Time Lady of L.A. #12: Pages 1-2

Page 1, 2 Panels- Ten blocks from Hotel Cairo/Free Tahrir Compound, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the last page of the previous issue. We see our two human heroines standing in front of the hoverboard, listening as the now off-panel Mona delivered at the end of Issue 11. Amanda seems genuinely confused by the name, lifting her eyebrows up slightly in a visual cue of the emotion. Giana, meanwhile, has a slightly higher degree of curiosity in her body language as she listens to the young woman from the past. MONA [Off-Panel]: Haddad Iffrit! AMANDA [in thought bubble]: What the hell? Sounds like an Elvish sword...or Americanized Indian food! GIANA [in thought bubble]: "Fire Eagle"...oh, fuck! Oh... Panel 2: Same layout in terms of our two young heroines. The setting has changed though, to show them back inside the confiens of one of the secret compounds on the Free Tahrir movement. Unlike earlier, they both share a sense of surprise and a large rock of impending doom forming in their throats upon seeing something off-panel in front of them. You can also see Feli9 sitting in front of Giana's feet looking at the same object. GIANA & AMANDA [in thought bubble]: Fuccck! Page 2, 5 Panels- Secret Free Tahrir Compound, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-2: Cut to a shot taken from a different 180-degree perspective than what we last in the last panel of the previous page. The backs of the heads of our two heroines can be seen in the bottom foreground of the panel view as they look, in the center of the panel view, at a set of blueprints for a drone with the core of an X47C and the wingspan of the Sentinel (albeit slightly larger). Ra'hel is standing to the left of the display, and Mona to the right (visible in Panel 2), showing it off to the ladies from the future as others walk about behind them in the background, going left and right as well as up and down. RA'HEL [to Giana and Amanda]: A super weapon that has been in development by the government and the E.o.M. that can, according to our intel, level a half-dozen city blocks in a matter of seconds undetected by radar. Potentially more depending on the ordinance attached to them. Panel 3: Cut to a close-up action shot of Mona on the section of the area where we saw her in the previous panel, walking toward the center of the blueprint. Her hand pointing out toward one of the wings as she takes her turn addressing the ladies with the same look of steady command that Ra'hel had in the previous panel. MONA [to Giana and Amanda]: We've been keeping track of the project for a little over two years. We thought they were a decade out from completing the project, at least. Then came last night at Hotel Cairo and... GIANA [interjecting, Off-Panel]: You think it was a test run? MONA [Bubble 2]: In a nutshell, yeah. Panel 4: Cut to a shot of Giana seated on a chair, watching as the proceedings have taken place. It's been only a split second since the end of Mona's statement, and we see her lean slightly ready to interject on the whole situation. Though not enough to disturb Feli9 sleeping peacefully on her lap. You can see part of Amanda's leg in the other chair next to her on the left of the panel view, along with Giana's Marvel backpack. GIANA [Cont., sympathetic]: Can't say I disagree with the thought. I'm just wondering why you're showing us all of this. RA'HEL [Off-Panel, to Giana]: Because, Ms. Franklin... Panel 5: Back to a shot of Ra'hel standing in roughly the same place that we saw him in the beginning of the page. He takes a step forward away from the blueprints, which are partially visible in the background behind him. There's the same sense of command in his voice and body language as he addresses the young lady from the future. RA'HEL [Cont.]: You are going to help us take down the Ifrit before it takes out every scrap of resistance in this country.
