Time Lady of L.A. #12: Pages 3-4

Page 3, 7 Panels- Secret Free Tahrir Compound, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels focused squarely on Giana in her chair. With each panel, you can see a growing sense of unease and anxiety creep up inside her. The only things that she's able to have slip out of her mouth are "Umm" and "Ahh, well..." as she tries to discover the proper response for the situation. GIANA [to Ra'hel and Mona; Panel 3]: I'm sorry--I've gotta go! Panel 4-5: Action shot showing Ms. Franklin as she leaps up from her seat and starts to run off toward the left of the panel view, picking up her backpack by the top handle. Feli9 leaps off in surprise as this all goes on. You can see Amanda still in her chair in Panel 4, shocked by the response from her usually calm as can be friend. In Panel 5, a few beats later, we see her standing up from her chair and watching as Giana, with one of the straps over her shoulder, completely runs out of view toward the unseen entrance. AMANDA [to Giana, surprised; Panel 4]: G?... AMANDA [Cont., a little louder and more concerned; Panel 5]: G?!... Panel 6: Cut to Ra'hel watching the whole scene go on with the same level of surprise that was seen from Amanda in the past couple of panels. His gaze is split between the door as it closes off-panel and to Amanda standing a few feet from her. A section of the blueprints to the Ifrit visible in the background. SOUND EFFECT [Off-Panel]: SLAM! Panel 7: Back to Amanda a minute later, standing a step in front of the chair she had just sat on. She looks on with a degree of respect toward him. Inside, she wrestles with the same level of concern and anxiety as to what the hell's going on that she had earlier. Though she tries to keep a slight patina of calm and self-control as she speaks to him. AMANDA [to Ra'hel, slight stammer]: I--I'll take care of it... AMANDA [Cont., in thought bubble]: I hope! Page 4, 5 Panels- Secret Free Tahrir Compound, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels centered around the door that lead into the room of the compound where the bulk of the action this issue has taken place. In Panel 1, we see the door just beginning to open up. In Panel 2, the doorway is opened wide enough that we see Amanda's face as well as the top half of her body looking out in front of her for her friend. In Panel 3, she starts to take a step inside the doorway upon hearing a slightly muffled sob come from off-panel. Panel 4: We pull back ten steps in the same setting as the previous panel, showing Amanda's full body in the shot. As a result, we see more of the hallway that leads up to the doorway and Feli9 as she walks into the shot to the left of Amanda. Also, we see for the first time Giana sitting in a crouched position on the ground with the backpack partially visible next to her. The sound of sobbing that was evident partially from the left of the panel view in Panel 3 is still audible here. AMANDA [despondently under her breath, looking at Giana]: Oh, God... Panel 5: Cut to a front shot of Giana lying in the same position that we saw her in in the previous panel. Her head down to her knees in the same crouched position, crying. The backpack is more visible to the left of her, slumped back toward the gray wall which appears in the background. SOUND EFFECT [Off-Panel, from the right of the panel view]: THUMP THUMP, tika-tika-tika...THUMP THUMP, tika-tika-tika...THUMP THUMP, tika-tika-tika...
