Time Lady of L.A. #12: Pages 9-10
Page 9, 6 Panels- Secret Free Tahrir Compound, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Cut to the doorway a couple of moments later. Through the three-quarters opened area, we see Mona peak her head and most of the body and looking over at Giana and Amanda with a degree of curiosity and confusion as with the long delay. You can see a little section of black as well as a part of the room's ceiling in the background behind her as she speaks. MONA [to Amanda]: Hey...you settle whatever happened to your friend earlier? Panel 2: Back to Amanda a second later. She's looking over in Mona's direction and standing back up from the crouched position, giving a quick nod. You can also see over her shoulder Giana engaging in a similar action, albeit a split second slower than her friend. There's also a little section of Feli9 that is visible in the bottom of the panel view, in between the two of them. AMANDA [covering up the truth; to Mona]: Yeah, it's all taken care of. Just a minor case of nerves. GIANA: Yeah... Panel 3: Slight close-up on Giana a couple of seconds later. She rubs off the last section of tears that remain on the right side of her cheek, looking over in the direction of Mona. She puts on a brave face given the situation, showing a better grasp at things than she had in the previous page. Though you can see in her eyes that there's a lingering sense of doubt in terms of the future. GIANA [Cont., to Mona]: I should've mentioned it to you earlier. I apologize. MONA [Off-Panel, dismissive]: No need... Panel 4: Back to Mona in the doorway with a setting and layout very similar to what we saw in the beginning of the page. The lone difference is that more of her body comes into view from the doorway to the view of the reader. She brushes off the need for an apology, seeking only to continue on to the more pressing business at hand. MONA [Cont., to Giana]: Just tell me you have an idea or something to help take out the Haddad Ifrit. Panel 5-6: Back to Giana in mid-step, moving toward the door and around Feli9, who strolls [leaving little "tika-tika-tika..." sounds on the tile] in the same direction. The left hand she used in Panel 3 to wipe off the remaining tears is now drifting back to her side in this panel. In Panel 6, as we see Amanda partially come into view in the right side of the panel, Giana stops briefly to reveal her previous brain storm. GIANA [to Mona; Panel 5]: Nothing yet. But I think I might know someone who could help...hopefully. GIANA [Panel 6]: Do you have any friends, or allies outside of Cairo that I could get a message out to? Page 10, 6 Panels- Secret Free Tahrir Compound, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. A split second later, Giana remembers the brouhaha that took place the first time she met Mona. She stammers a little bit before continuing on, trying to soothe any potential drama pre-emptively with the young woman from the past. GIANA [Cont.]: Not for spy stuff or anything, just...just to get out a message to someone. Panel 2-3: Back to Mona at the doorway. The setting and layout very similar to what was seen in Panel 4 of the previous page. She raises an eyebrow in curiosity that stretches on into the next panel where Mona becomes firmly intrigued [though still skeptical somewhat] by the proposal. The door in Panel 3 also opens up wider, showing the rest of the young woman's body. MONA [to Giana; Panel 3]: Who's the message for? Panel 4: Back to Giana in a setting similar to what we saw in the beginning of the page. The nervousness that she exhibited then has mellowed out slightly. Her hands slipping into her jean pockets with the Marvel backpack partially visible behind her. There's also partial visibility and movement from Feli9 in the background to the left of the panel view. GIANA: It's for Doctor Robin Polcino. She's a scientist from the U.S., a good one at that. I'm not entirely sure you know who she is though, but I figure-- MONA [Off-Panel]: I know her. Panel 5: Cut back to Mona in the same setting and layout that we saw of her in Panel 3. At this point, her hand has grabbed a firm hold of the edge of the doorway in a casual type manner. You can see the handle of her energy sword appearing more prominently into view on the belt of her waist. MONA [Cont.]: She's dead. Panel 6: Back to Giana who looks on, shocked though not exactly surprised by the sudden announcement. Feli9 can be seen making a half-circle rotation around the left side of the panel view, looking around at the scenery as she moves. Amanda appears into view around the right side of the panel view, appearing more surprised than her friend. GIANA: Dead? How...? MONA [Cont., Off-Panel]: Ra'hel and I were in Port-au-Prince a few years back...
