Time Lady of L.A. #12: Pages 13-14

Page 13, 8 Panels- Secret Free Tahrir Compound Conference Room, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels displaying, point by point, Feli9 making her way to Giana's shoulder. Her propellers rev down in Panel 1, and start to retract back into her metal body as she moves ever closer in Panel 2. Finally, in Panel 3, we see the robotic feline compatriot land on her master's shoulder. Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, focused closer on Feli9. Seconds after making the move in Panel 3, we see the metallic robo-feline vibrate in place in an action very similar to a cat purring. You can also see part of Giana's shoulder and the side of her neck in the bottom out to the right side of the panel view. Panel 5-7: A two-part set of panels that shift the focus back on Giana moments later, responding to the vibrational elements from her mecha-kitty. Her tense demeanor softening as we transition from Panel 5 to Panel 7, happening in the course of a handful of seconds. You can even see the slightest sliver of a smile come over her face in Panel 6 that continues in Panel 7. GIANA [to Feli9, through vibration; Panel 6]: That's...That's enough, Fe... GIANA [Cont., normally; Panel 7]: Thanks, girl! AMANDA [Off-Panel, to Giana; Panel 7]: All good now? Panel 8: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. As Feli9 leaps off Giana's shoulder to the ground (from left to right), we see Ms. Franklin looking over in Amanda's direction. The sound of her footsteps coming from the left of the panel view a subtle signal that she is walking in her direction. GIANA [nodding, to Amanda]: Yeah...Yeah, I'm good. Page 14, 5 Panels- Secret Free Tahrir Compound Conference Room, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-2: A two-part set of panels that serve as two halves of the same scene. Namely, the front of the conference room. The backs of the heads of the young organizers visible in the foreground of each panel's shot. In Panel 1, we see Giana walk from left to right, taking off her back and timidly acknowledging the crowd who murmur to each other. In Panel 2, she stops closer to the left edge of the panel view, steadying herself to speak. The backpack next to her left foot on the ground. We see Mona standing a few feet to the right of her, translating to the non-English speaking audience. GIANA [to the crowd, nervous; Panel 2]: Hello, umm...my name is Giana. I--I was... Panel 3: Same setting/layout as Panel 2. There is a slight close-up on Giana, centering her in the shot. A few seconds later, she clears her throat, trying to regain her train of thought. You can see Mona in the background over her right shoulder, looking on at Ms. Franklin in the middle of her pause before she has to translate again. GIANA [Cont., with a little more composure]: Sorry about that. Just clearing my throat. Anyway...Mona and Ra'hel brought me here to help out with the mission. Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Giana stops mid-thought upon realizing a detail that has eluded her brain at that moment. Namely, the question of "What precisely are they planning?" that holds no answer. Mona, meanwhile, is seen in the same position translating the tail end of her statement from Panel 3. Her periphery focused on Ms. Franklin with a degree of curiosity. GIANA [Cont., trailing off a little in the end]: Or whatever this is, since I wasn't really told what all...this is. ORGANIZER #1 [Off-Panel, translated from Egyptian Arabic]: This is absurd! Panel 5: Cut to a shot of the organizer we heard in the previous panel in the middle-left portion of the table. He stands up and extends his right arm out in protest in direction of Mona. There's a look of great offense in his eyes at the prospect, shared by the other men seated at the table at that moment. ORGANIZER #1 [Cont., to Mona]: She's not a true sister of Egypt! How exactly will she help us in the Rally? ORGANIZER #2 [following on to the thought of Organizer #1, seated at the opposite side of the table]: She looks more suited to be in a kitchen than be the face of political opposition! MONA [Off-Panel, translated from Egyptian Arabic; to Organizer #1]: Because we said so, you preening pool of camel piss...
