Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #1: Pages 19-20
Page 19, 6 Panels- Arrivals Lobby, Haneda International Airport, Mid-Morning Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels which are all centered around Chloé/Ghede as she nears the descending escalators which appear only partially in the bottom of the panel view in Panel 1. You can see a litany of other passengers walking to and fro in the backgroud and past her as this all goes on. In Panel 2, the view of the metal staircase grows slightly more evident as she gets closer to it. And in Panel 3, as she places the human woman's left hand on the railing, her gaze is pulled over by the presence of a beautiful Japanese woman behind her coming into a nearby pub. It's here in the third panel that we see the outline of Ghede's primary body exiting Chloé Maissel. GHEDE [Panel 1 thought bubble, translated from Haitian Creole]: Now to find where the hells Ozawa's serviteur. Would've been nice if Bridge gave me a name, but...I manage, same as always. GHEDE [Cont., Panel 2 thought bubble]: All I have to do is look for the sad meat puppet with no pen-- GHEDE [Panel 3 thought bubble]: Hellooo... Panel 4: Cut to the front entrance of the pub a few moments later. A tasteful high backshot of Ghede who has landed just outside the wide doorway, looking in at the pub (a stereotypic view of a "ye olde English" pub). Her body steadily contorts to fit the beauty standards befitting Japanese women, both physically and through clothing (albeit in her trademark jet black). It's filled with an assortment of locals and tourists, laughing and drinking and eating as TVs show local and satellite programming. There's also the bump of K-Pop filtering out of the opened doorway. GHEDE: I'm sure that can wait a little while longer. Besides, after last night... Panel 5: Cut to a shot from the inside of the club looking over at Ghede a split second after the previous panel. The transformation in form is complete, and the wide silver smile on her face denotes an amorous itch deep inside her heart. You can get a better look at the people inside as they dance, enjoying each other's company underneath the bumping beat of the music from the speakers; including the young woman in a lovely floral dress with a short skirt. GHEDE [Cont.]: Boa owes me! Panel 6: Side shot of Ghede walking confidently inside the pub, checking out the people at the bar. Their heads turning to see the beauty who has just arrived, including the male bartender whose tongue is just about to burst out of his mouth in an exhibition of stereotypical male gaze. The Voodoo specter ignores the looks of the humans, flashing a dismissive grin to an act she had seen far too many times before in the past to be impressed by. Page 20, 5 Panels- Faux Pub Panel 1: The layout of the page is mostly filled with a nebulous black with a touch of cigarette smoke-gray. As for the panel itself, it zooms in slightly to the bar itself, stretching out far into the background. Seated at the very end is the woman in the floral dress herself, KIWIKO. She's holding a glass of beer, looking up into the sky and bobbing along to the music. Panel 2-3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Her attention shifts over to her left at the lovely visage of Ghede approaching the bar. She flashes a curious eyebrow in the direction of our heroic specter. In Panel 3, there's the presence of a grin that corresponds with the same eyebrow as Ghede starts to sit down on the stool next to her. Panel 4: Cut to a proper action shot from behind the bar looking out of Ghede as she sits down on the semi-cushioned stool. Her gaze is momentarily pulled in the direction of an tall glass of Foster's lying on the bartop nearby. A few happy customers passing by in the background along with one of the faux pub's local staff. GHEDE: Normally, I stay away from ales. But...what the hells! Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Just as she sits down, you can see her left arm stretching out and grabbing the glass. The man who originally purchased the beer is seen at this busy, chatting it up with a friend of his who is off-panel in terms of the panel view, oblivious to Ghede's whole scheme. GHEDE [to the Customer, translated from Japanese]: Thank you!
