Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #2: Pages 5-6

Page 5, 6 Panels- Mr. Ozawa's Bedroom Panel 1: Profile shot of Ghede a short time later. She is now settling in and getting down to the deep business of the ceremony. Her arms are outstretched, and her hands facing palmward toward the sky. At the same time, we see the two objects of personal use levitating off of the mattress. GHEDE [to Mace]: Now, comes the easy part; relatively speaking. Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. From each of the two objects, we see a dark red mist rising out of the center of them. At this point, our Haitian guerrier is well into the meat of the spell. GHEDE [Cont., to Mace]: Summoning your boss' essence from each object to place in the empty awamori bottle. Panel 3: Cut to Mace standing in the same place he'd done for the last page. He looks on with awe and reverence as the otherworldly visitor continues off-panel. There's also a touch of curiosity that shows itself during the question. MACE: I'm not terribly familiar with your faith, Ms. Ghede. But don't these types of ceremonies usually involve a priest or shaman of some kind? GHEDE [Off-Panel]: In normal ceremonies, they do. Panel 4: Back to Ghede a moment later, barely dropping a single bead of sweat as she explains to the butler. You can see as she speaks the separate masses of dark red rum-colored mist starts to collide into one mass. You can also see the glass bottle just starting to rise up to the same level as the other two objects. GHEDE [Cont.]: But this...isn't a 'normal' ceremony! This is something that is technically frowned upon by those like Papa Legba who exist between this realm and the next one. Lucky for you-- Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, a second later. We see Ghede with a smirk, displaying a small section of her teeth as a result. You can also see the now combined essence start to dive down and slip inside the awamori. GHEDE [Cont.]: Me and the "gwo elocutioner" are...not in friendly terms. Panel 6: Back to Mace continuously. He scratches the back of his head with his left hand, watching the mist to bottle process being completed off-panel. MACE: Wouldn't such acrimony increase the risk it will fail? GHEDE [Off-Panel]: FUCK! MACE: What is it? Page 6, 7 Panels- Mr. Ozawa's Bedroom Panel 1: Ghede growls in frustration a short moment later. The old razor and the buttoned-up shirt are in mid-flight, dropping back down to the edge of the bed. The bottle, meanwhile, is still in its levitated position. Its dark red contents officially frozen and half-full. GHEDE: There's one last piece of the ceremony I almost forgot to add in to the mixture- 4 leaves from a poisonous plant, preferably one native to the area. Panel 2-3: Cut to Mace a few moments later. His arm is back down to his side and his gaze over to the right side, thinking to himself. In Panel 3, after thinking, the man's face looks back over toward Ghede. MACE [thinking; Panel 2]: Well, there's some Wisteria hanging at Ashikaga. But... MACE [Cont., Panel 3; to Ghede]: Why 4 leaves if I may ask? Panel 4: Back to Ghede in a layout very similar to what we saw in Panel 1. The contents of the essence also remain frozen in its place, half inside and the other half floating in a ball on top of it outside. GHEDE [matter-of-factly]: The 4 points of the crossroads. It's essentially the front door which leads the living to someone's In Between. Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. He swipes his left panel hand (right hand) over, sending the bottle straight out of panel view toward a countertop off-panel. GHEDE [Cont.]: Now, if you don't mind shutting that strip of meat you call a mouth...I really need to procure this Wisteria you mention. Panel 6: Cut to Mace a second later. He takes a step forward and up toward the right side of the panel view. His body leaning forward along with his right shoulder as well as the corresponding right arm. MACE: Do you need assistance? I have a friend who works at the park. I imagine he... GHEDE [Off-Panel]: I told you already... Panel 7: Same setting/layout as we saw in Panel 5. The Haitian guerrier's hand has moved back into the same position that she has had for the portion of her action since entering the businessman's bedroom. Her eyes slowly beginning to close as she speaks. GHEDE [confident smile]: I have it taken care of!
