Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #2: Pages 13-14
Page 13, 6 Panels- Avain's Dhom, In-Between Panel 1: Cut back onboard to a proper, slightly elevated shot of our titular heroine looking up at the creature. Its shadow cast downward, covering the whole of the ship. A smile cuts across her face as she looks on. GHEDE [Cont., translated from French]: You sweet Greek beauty you! Panel 2: We shift the focus back to Avain coming out of the ship's main housing a few moments after the formal arrival of the creature, walking over to join his friend at the front of the ship. He's holding over his right shoulder a fairly massive early '60s era bazooka. His focus is split between the awesome size of the unseen Charybdis and Ghede on ground level. AVAIN [translated from French; concerned]: Don't Charybdis' use a lot of water as... Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Suddenly, a large gust of water shoots out from the top right side of the panel, squarely hitting Avain and knocking him off of his feet. The bazooka knocked out of his hand and drawn upstage in the panel view. Panel 4: Back to Ghede in mid-leap as the action of Panel 4 goes on. She looks back toward her compatriot at the middle of the ship with sword firmly in attack position. You can see the stomach of the Charybdis in the background a little part of the water funnel as it barrels down on Avain. GHEDE: Apologies, Avi... Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A little more than a second has elapsed, and Ghede has landed gently on the top bar of the ship's railing. Her sword is still high in attack position, glowing with the same black as coal aura and overall color we saw earlier, and her head back toward the oncoming monster. GHEDE [Cont.]: That slipped my mind a bit! Panel 6: We cut to a shot from sky level moments after where another shield appears in order to protect the ship from the powerful whirlpool. This time though, instead of the long rectangular shape that we saw in its first incarnation, it has more of a circular design. You can see Ghede in the air, appearing only partially from the bottom of the panel view toward it. Page 14, 6 Panels- In-Between Panel 1-2: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. We see our titular heroine approach the far edge of the dark black energy shield. The mighty whirlpool ends with it halfway between the shield and the Charybdis itself. You can see the creature's eyes, along with its head, moving toward Ghede. In Panel 2, a sweep of the creature's right arm smacks across Ghede's mid-section. Panel 3-4: Action shot of the Haitian guerrier moments later. Her body speedily rushing toward the front of an oncoming tree that appears in full view on the right side of the panel view. And in Panel 4, her body slams into the top of the tree, breaking in half as if it had been struck by a lightning bolt. Panel 5-6: Same setting/layout as Panel 4. The top half of the tree has tumbled down to the ground, creating a With a pained and annoyed groan, Ghede turns her face back toward the monster. Her arm lifting the unseen sword back up off-panel while her opposite hand rubs the side of her head. In Panel 6, her moment of self-loathing is interrupted by the sound of a rocket cutting through the air off-panel.
