Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #2: Pages 15-16

Page 15, 4 Panels- Pathway to the In-Between

Panel 1: A quarter-page sized set of panels centered specifically on Ghede's final path toward the opened egg-shaped doorway on the far left side of the panel view which leads to Kazuo's In-Between. The various image windows of Mr. Ozawa's past, particularly some of his more embarrassing moments, can be seen somewhat in the background. The Voodoo specter, at this point, is on the far right side of the panel view. She's rocketing like a bullet toward the doorway with her Molltach placed out in front of her.

GHEDE [thought bubble, translated from Haitian Creole]: Hmmm...I don't remember the process being this...speedy.

Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel moments later. The lone difference is in the position of our titular heroine. She's moved at this point from the far right toward the center of the panel view.

GHEDE [Cont., thought bubble]: Not that I care a hell of a lot. Whoever's behind it is just giving me more reason to pound them into sand...

Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. At this point, we see Ghede come ever closer to the doorway, ready to smash her way through. She has transitioned from the center around the center-left area.

GHEDE [Cont., thought bubble]: And I don't need one to do that!

Panel 4: Same setting as the previous panel. The layout has changed slightly, however, in that the quarter-page layout has been cut by half; the second half being well...nothing. A few moments more pass by, and we see Ghede within half a foot of entering the doorway. She lets out a mighty battle cry that shakes and reverberates over the top of the panel and into the aforementioned panel of nothingness to the right of it.

Panel 1-3: Cut to a shot moments later after Ghede's full transition into the otherworldly realm, which resembles in many ways a section of the Amazon. We see her in Panel 1 on the ground with her back bent in a curved shape with the blade of the Molltach down on the dirt. In Panel 2, the Haitian guerrier lifts herself back to her feet; the sword's tip still touching the ground. And in Panel 3, she starts to move toward the left starting her journey.

GHEDE [translated from Haitian Creole, sniffing; Panel 1]: That...that's the Amazon. I love it! GHEDE [Cont., looking up slightly at the scenery around her; Panel 2]: Can't say I expected that coming from Kazzie!

Panel 4: Action shot of Ghede taking in more of the scenery a few moments, and ten feet, later. You can see the back of her body just as it shifts through the bark of one of the trees located in the right side of the panel view.

GHEDE [Cont.]: Then again, this place is a creation of the human's collective life experience. It could be some amalgamation of a dream or forestland in Brasilia he saw just before his company milked it dry for profit.

Panel 5: Same layout as the previous panel a second later. We see more of the wooded area in the background. There are also birds, albeit in shadowy form, that can be seen flying in the sky as she speaks, illuminated by the shades of sunlight that drip in past the foliage.

GHEDE: Either way, it's a pretty nice break.

Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. As the front of another tree comes into view around the left side of the panel view, we see Ghede approach it, ready to phase through. You can see very faintly in the background the flicker of a sizable shadow behind her.

GHEDE [Cont.]: Now to find Avi before the D starts to show itself.

Panel 7: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Just before she goes through the tree, Ghede stops. Her attention pulled over to the right as a result of a mysterious cracking sound. The shadow that was in the background in the previous panel, at this point, has disappeared from view.

GHEDE [growl, just beginning to turn her head to the right]: Spoke too soon!
