Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #2: Pages 21-22
Page 21, 5 Panels- In-Between Panel 1-2: Action shot of Ghede a split second later. She leaps off of the Molltach handle, positioning her body into the thin positioning of an arrow shot from its quiver. The sound of the hard charging Bear can be heard off-panel at this point. In Panel 2, just seconds later, we see her in full arrow-like positioning. Her left fist clenched and stuck out in front of her, glowing a dark quartz black aura around it. Panel 3: A couple of beats later, we see the Haitian guerrier land the punishing blow on the extra powerful creature, creating a loud echo with a similar sound to hitting a piece of metal with an aluminum bat. You can see the Bear being thrust off of its fours into the air. The back of what appears to be a jail cell of the same color as the black glow from Panel 2 is visible just behind its furry back. Panel 4: Slight close-up on the Bear following the decisive blow from our titular hero, letting out a pained groan as it smacks into the back of the forming dark black prison bars. You can see the rest of the cell that is tall enough to give it a nice amount of head room. The sound that was present in the previous panel still rings in the background, heightened by the sound of Bear muscle and deceptively hard cell bars. Panel 5: Cut to a high sky shot of the forested setting that we've seen from the inside for the past few pages. The heightened sound stretching out toward all sides of the panel view, shaking the trees and foliage. A little piece of the clear blue sky is visible on the top of the panel view which remains untouched by all of the action on the ground. There's also the faintest sign of what appears to be a river near the bottom which is also untouched by the action. Page 22, 6 Panels- In-Between Panel 1: We move to the sight of a boat a distance away from this section of forest. Onboard, manning the wheel, is a man dressed in the weathered uniform of a French Navy officer. He has green eyes and milk chocolate skin with a rugged, stereotypically manly physique. He looks up and over to the right in the direction of the noise which has at this point passed by on its way to full dissipation. A small grin coming over his face. Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The mystery captain looks back out to the sea a few moments later. He grips both sides of the hardwood steering wheel and starts to turn it toward the left as he looks. SEA CAPTAIN [chuckling, translated from French]: Ah, spectses... Panel 3: Cut to a wider shot of the boat as it formally makes its leftward turn on the water. It's here that we get a proper examination of the boat the Captain's been piloting, which resembles a Dhow buut with larger sides and reinforced sheets of metal. You can see more of the forested area in the background, containing many of the same trees we saw in the last page along with a few other native trees applicable to those found in Brasilia and other parts of South America. SEA CAPTAIN [Cont., Off-Panel]: You always know how to make a brilliant entrance! Panel 4: We move the scene over to a little area of beach a few miles from the boat of the previous panel. You can see Ghede's face between a couple of high reaching Pará rubber trees. The silver orbs of her eyes standing out amongst the green and brown of the flora as well as the light brown of the beach sand. Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments pass by, and we see the Haitian guerrier phase through one of the rubber trees and out. You can see part of the Molltach gripped in her left hand as it happens. She looks around toward the sea, breathing a relieved sigh as she gets a look at her surroundings. GHEDE [translated from Haitian Creole]: Ah, thank the gods I'm outta there! Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments later, we see Ghede's full body emerge out of the forested area. The blade of her sword dragging on the ground, creating a little divot that stretches in a line behind her. You can see her feet descending back downward to the soft ground below. Her focus moves from the left side over to the right looking for something unseen. GHEDE [Cont.]: Now to get on with the big task at hand- where is...
