Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #2: Pages 23-24
Page 23, 6 Panels- In-Between Panel 1: Slight close-up on Ghede's face looking up at something after taking a couple of steps on the sand. The retinas of her silver eyes grow upon the sight of the off-panel object, though not out of fear but rather a sense of excitement. GHEDE [translated from Haitian Creole]: ...Kezzie? Panel 2: We move to a shot from the back of the Voodoo specter, looking down the river and its flanking forestland at the sight of a massive dark green hill with jagged rocks on its sides. At the top, there's a shadowy speck shaped somewhat like a cabin. You can hear off-panel the rushing sound of water in the background. GHEDE: Of course he would! Fortunately, the boat should be here any second to get us there. Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Ghede takes a couple of steps on the sand in the direction of the hill. Unbeknownst to our titular hero, a menacing shadow appears over him, taking the form of a muscular Golem. The only sound that can be heard outside of the Voodoo specter's speech is the rush of water; a sound that is also heard in the previous panel. GHEDE [Cont.]: Till then, I'll just chill a little and enjoy the... Panel 4-5: Action shot of Ghede a split second later, leaping high and to the right with sword from a massive clear blue Warhammer that crashes into the ground. You can see part of the creature's muscular arm in the shot. In Panel 5, we see a slight close-up on the Haitian guerrier's body floating a few feet away. The fronts of a couple of trees can be seen in the background, along with the mystery creature's shadow as well as its weapon coming down toward her. GHEDE [raised eyebrow, holding the Molltach with both hands; Panel 5]: Water Golem?...Nifty. Panel 6: Side action shot a quick moment later, showing both Ghede and the aforementioned Water Golem clanging weapons with the forest in the background. The creature has a similar design to the typical Golem in Jewish lore, albeit with a very fluid layout and Japanese script on its chest. Even with her height, and the increase in her bicep muscles, she is still dwarfed by the very physically imposing Golem as it tries to use its Warhammer to break through the stalemate. Page 24, 7 Panels- In-Between Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the previous panel moments later. The two combatants shift slightly to the right in the brief time that has passed. Ghede's arms are raised skyward like a baseball player in the batter's box, ready to swing at the attacking Golem. GHEDE [translated from Haitian Creole, to the Water Golem]: I'm a little surprised it'd be in Kazzie's D, which is a nice rarity for me... Panel 2-3: Action shot of our titular heroine getting clobbered on her face by the head of the Warhammer. The Golem letting out a proud growl, watching as Ghede is sent quickly toward one of the trees visible in the background, which she connects into in Panel 3, phasing through most of the tree except for the sword. Panel 4-5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Her arm latches on to the base of the tree, looking out in the direction of the Golem as he charges forward off-panel. As her body quickly heals from the bruised blows, an idea comes over her. In Panel 5, you see the Haitian guerrier forcefully rip the palm tree out of its roots and hurling it forward GHEDE [Panel 4]: I wonder... Panel 6: Cut to a side shot moments later, showing the tree on its side moving at a rapid speed toward the charging Water Golem who appears to be leaping into the air with Warhammer in hand. Around the right side of the panel view, we see Ghede leaping forward in the same direction of the tree. Panel 7: Slight close-up moments later on the Golem in question. You can see the creature's form shrink just enough so that the tree only glances the top of his head. His overall demeanor completely unchanged as he looks up at the off-panel (and war growling) Ghede ready to strike. WATER GOLEM: Ha Ha...
