Time Lady of L.A. #14: Pages 3-4

Page 3, 8 Panels- Tahrir Square/Garden City District, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels centered on a close-up of W's face. Over the course of a minute, we see his face contort from annoyance (Panel 1) to gritted teeth (Panel 2) to a calm accepting smile in Panel 3. The wheels in his head turning fast as he discovers something advantageous in M's offer. W [Panel 2]: Okay...Okay! I'll let you join up. W [Cont., Panel 3]: I could always use the muscle anyhow. GIANA [Caption Box; Panel 3]: October 7th, 1981 Panel 4: Cut to a shot of Giana standing in what appears to be a grass field somewhere in the Garden City District. It's set on the day of the Rally, just as we saw at the beginning of the issue. She has her backpack looped over her shoulders, holding the Doc Brown in her right arm and looking over in Mona's direction as she speaks. GIANA [Cont., curious to Mona]: That's the day after President Sadat was assassinated, right? MONA [Off-Panel]: Yes, it was. Panel 5: We move to a shot of Mona standing in front of Giana at the same moment. You can officially see, in the background, that we are indeed in the middle of a grass field. The outline of the British Embassy as well as the Ministry of Trade & Industry visible on the corners of the background. MONA [Cont., to Giana]: It was also the day the Eyes of Mubarrak first arrived in Egypt...and the country went to hell! Panel 6: Cut to Amanda standing alongside Mona at the same moment with Feli9 at her feet. She looks on with a degree of curiosity and fascination in terms of the date, wanting to learn more. The background behind her showing a little more of the nearby section of Garden City that the three ladies happen to be standing in. AMANDA [to Mona]: Okay. So, who are we gunning after? Is it gonna be a large group of people, or just one dude? Panel 7-8: Back to Mona in a similar setting and layout that we saw back in Panel 5. As she talks, interjecting over Amanda's question, we see the young Ms. Nasser reach into the pocket of her pants in order to pull something out. In Panel 8, a few beats later, we see a folded object resembling a photo come out. She extends it out toward Giana's direction. MONA [interjecting; Panel 7]: Just one man... MONA [Cont., to Giana and Amanda; Panel 8]: William Felton. He's also known in the area by his codename- W. Page 4, 6 Panels- Garden City District, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-2: A two-part set of panels that is first centered around Giana's face. In the matter of a handful of seconds, we see her unfolding the piece of paper as she unfolds it out into a perfect square shape, using the Doc as a makeshift clipboard. In Panel 2, we cut to a shot of the weathered photograph along with the invisible "plus sign" that happens when you fold something in fourths. It's William Felton talking on his cell phone on a street corner, slightly younger though dressed in the same crisp tailor-made suits worn by W. MONA [Cont., Off-Panel; Panel 1]: Intelligence knows very little about the man. What we do know was gathered two years ago in an undercover operation that went wrong. MONA [Cont., Off-Panel; Panel 1, Bubble 2]: He's fairly high up in the Eyes' food chain with connections to varied arms dealers throughout the region. He also has a penchant for well-tailored suits, likely from his Western benefactor. GIANA [to Mona, Off-Panel; Panel 2]: Western benefactor? MONA [Cont., Off-Panel; Panel 2]: Yeah. Why do you think I'm not the biggest of fans of the U.S.? Everything we have points to someone in your country's government, possibly the CIA or... Panel 3: Cut to a close-up of Amanda's face, similar to what we saw in Panel 1. A few moments have passed, and her eyes are still focused squarely on the photograph. There's a ponderous look on her face as she examines one particular unseen area that has her intrigued. AMANDA [under her breath]: That's an iPhone... Panel 4-5: We move to a shot of Giana's face in Panel 4, ovehearing the comment from her friend. Her eyes sparking with a shot of curiosity and intrigue at the statement, slightly raising her eyebrow. In Panel 5, the layout widens slightly to a full-body shot of our two future heroines as, a minute later, we see Amanda moving alongside Giana's left shoulder to take a look at the photo. Feli9 is seen trailing just a step behind Amanda. GIANA [to Amanda; Panel 4]: What? AMANDA [Off-Panel, to Amanda; Panel 4]: In the photo, dude. I swear, that's an iPhone...look--look at it! GIANA [looking at the photo intently; Panel 5, Bubble 1]: Holy hells, it is an iPhone. A 6s from the looks of it. AMANDA [nodding, to Giana; Panel 5]: You know what that means, G...? Panel 6: Cut to a shot of Mona a split second later. Annoyed by the secret conversation that's been going on between the two ladies, she takes a couple of steps forward to force herself into the conversation. You can see the green of the grass in the background along with a swirl of beige from the buildings in the distance. MONA [to Giana and Amanda, perturbed]: Anyone want to fill me in on what you guys are talking about?!
