Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #3: Pages 7-8

Page 7, 6 Panels- Avain's Dhom, In-Between Panel 1: Same layout and setting as the last panel of the previous page. The shaking and banging below them starts to increase in intensity over the seconds that have elapsed between now and then. The Haitian guerrier has stopped alongside Avain, who is struggling to keep the ship still tethered to the river, just pulling her sword back out of its holster. AVAIN [to Ghede, translated from French]: You think that's a shark doing this? Or some other natural creature Ozawa may have seen in the past? GHEDE [to Avain, translated from French; shaking her head]: Doubt that... Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The shaking and banging as violent and loud as it was in the last panel. With her Molltach whipped out and raised above her head in an attacking pose, Ghede looks down at the sea below, trying to anticipate the next attack to come at the Dhom. GHEDE [Cont.]: No, my gut tells me this has more to do with the vengeful water god I mentioned earlier. I-- Panel 3-4: Before she could let out the last part of her statement, a shadow casts over the two of them. She looks up, as well as Avain behind her who is, as he was before, struggling to keep the ship upright. She flashes her right hand outward as if she's about to initiate some type of spell. We cut in Panel 4 to a wall of water that has caused the shadow. Its massive size both blending in and standing out amongst the clear blue sky of the area. Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments pass by, and suddenly we see a long rectangular-shaped energy shield appear in the sky, brunting the full impact of the water as it smashes into it. The water somewhat dripping out toward its side in the foreground and background of the shot. Panel 6: Cut to a continuous shot from the sky looking down at our two heroes. Avain tries to keep his footing after a minor shockwave from the water's impact on the makeshift shield hits below while keeping the Dhom upright. Parts of the wood floor shoot and crack off as well as the roofing above. Ghede, meanwhile, is skyward keeping the previously seen shield aloft. GHEDE [straining]: Just...a little...longer... Page 8, 5 Panels- Avain's Dhom- In-Between Panel 1-2: Back to the same setting and layout that we saw in Panel 5 of the previous page. The same rectangular shield that we saw then has curved in shape in Panel 1, pooling the gathered water that still remains into a sort of makeshift tub as it contorts. In Panel 2, the shield has fully tipped over into a sort of 90 degree angle spilling the water back into the sea below. GHEDE [translated from French; Panel 1]: Almost... GHEDE [Cont., Panel 2]: Got it! Panel 3: Action shot from the outside of the boat moments later. We see the water at this point tumbling back to its natural home, creating a massive surge around the rear of the ship. We can also see faintly our two heroes looking down in the direction of the water, anticipating what will happen next. Panel 4-5: Cut to a side shot moments later, showing the wave as it grows in size. The power of it grows at the same moment, raising the bottom of the Dhom up as it goes. In Panel 5, the wave reaches a high peak and quickly dives back to the previous balanced level. All the while, typified by the sounds of nerved screaming that has stretched out through each of these panels.
