Time Lady of L.A. #14: Pages 7-8

Page 7, 5 Panels- Garden City District, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. Another long seeming handful of seconds pass with Giana's face still holding the same inner pain and strife that she elicited then. Her eyes not quite red with tears, but on the edge of reaching that level, looking back up toward Amanda. GIANA [Cont., in a whisper to Amanda]: The possibility of seeing your mother die in front of you...don't tell me it wouldn't bother you, if you were in my shoes. AMANDA [Off-Panel, in a whisper to Giana]: Of course it would, G! But...she isn't gonna die! GIANA [Bubble 2, also in a whisper]: How do you know? Panel 2: Cut back to a shot of Amanda's face. The layout similar to what we saw in the second to last panel of the previous page. Her face softens to show a degree of empathy and warm comfort to her friend as she moves to console her. In the background, you can faintly hear the sound of footsteps from Mona hitting the grass. AMANDA [Cont., to Giana]: I--I don't know. All I know is what we've seen her do since we got to this place. She can take care of herself in a scrap, and subsequently us too. AMANDA [Bubble 2]: And, well, given the fact we barely survived one of TyCorp's lackeys last time...I don't want to cast off anyone who could help before the mayhem and insanity starts up. Panel 3: Back to Giana's face in a layout similar to what we saw in the page's first panel. She flashes half of a knowing smile back toward her friend, nodding lovingly as her friend continues her forward movement off-panel. Also, as was the case in Panel 2, we can still hear the sound of Mona's footsteps in the background off-panel toward them. GIANA [to Amanda, crackling in a fairly normal voice]: I know--I know all that. It's just...hard to convince the rest of my body of that. AMANDA [Off-Panel]: I know, G...I know! Panel 4: Back to Amanda in a setting and layout that looks similar to what we had seen from her back in Panel 2. Thanks to the words from her friend, you can see Ms. Clarke's eyes start to redden herself upon hearing it. A wide, loving smile just beginning to form on her face at the same moment as Giana's shadow starts to cover her face. As for the footsteps in the background off-panel, they have firmly stopped. AMANDA [Cont., to Giana]: After we get the hells out of this, promise me one thing- let's hold back on the exploring through time and space thing for awhile. At least till those blackouts of yours start to become less frequent. GIANA [to Amanda, Bubble 1]: But they already are, Mandy! It's been days since I last had one and-- AMANDA [interjecting, Bubble 2]: My dad felt the same way after his pancreatic cancer went into remission. Then, a year later it comes back and...he's dead before my 18th birthday. Bottom line is--you gotta take care of your head. GIANA [Bubble 2]: [sighs]...Alright, I--I'll think about it. AMANDA [Bubble 3]: [chuckle] Fuck, with you--I'll take it! Panel 5: We pull up to an action shot, showing both of our future heroines as they're wrapped up in a loving, yet somewhat awkward hug. You can see Feli9 standing outside between the two of them, looking out in front of her at the outline of Mona who appears with her back to the reader around the left side of the panel view. There's also the outline of her energy sword in her right hand barely touching the ground. GIANA [muffled within the huggy pile, to Amanda]: Have I told you lately that I love you? AMANDA [muffled within the huggy pile, filled with love; to Giana]: Not really, G. AMANDA [Cont., Bubble 2]: But...love you too! MONA [clearing her throat, to Giana and Amanda]: Huhh-Huuhhmm... Page 8, 6 Panels- Garden City District, 1985 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Cut to a full-body shot of Mona a split second later. She's standing in roughly the same pose that we saw of her from the back in the last panel of the previous page. Her eyebrow raised very slightly up in the air as she speaks. In the background, you can see a mixture of buildings nearby and the increasingly dark blue sky shining above her head. MONA [Cont., to Giana and Amanda]: I hate to interrupt this lovely bit of sisterhood. But am I coming along with your Kyle Reese-ing mission to the past or not? Panel 2: Back to Giana and Amanda in a similar layout that we saw in the last panel of the previous page. The two of them have broken off from their hug and are now standing next to each other (Amanda on the left, Giana on the right of the panel view). Amanda nods while Giana starts typing away on the Doc Brown as Ms. Nasser's been speaking AMANDA [to Mona]: We talked it over and...yes, you can come along with us. GIANA [looking at the screen, though also addressed to Mona]: Mainly because you're the only one of us who are skilled at actual weapons. Panel 3: Close-up on Giana's face a few moments later, after she's finished her quick typing from Panel 2. She looks up from the tablet's screen in the direction of Mona. There's a sense of caution that can be visible in her eyes as she speaks. GIANA [to Mona, cautiously]: Are you prone to motion sickness by any chance, Mona? Panel 4: We cut to a shot of Mona as she approaches the two of them. The tip of her sword now raised high enough that it isn't blatantly touching the ground. As she's speaking, in the background, you can se a aint crackle of blue lightning start to appear representing the Pegasus' blue energy ball forming. MONA [confused, to Giana]: Umm...depends on the situation, I guess. Or what I ate the night before. Why do you... Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A couple of moments later, as the blue energy ball starts to come into more prominence, along with the corresponding crackling, Mona looks around (her back partially to the reader) and immediately notices the answer to the question she was set to ask. MONA [Cont., knowing]: Ohhh! Panel 6: Cut back to Giana in a similar setting and layout to the one that we saw of her back in Panel 3. She gives the girl from the past a somewhat comforting gaze, holding the tablet in hand (it appears around the lower half of the panel view) and the photo underneath. The general area around them fills up with dark blue, punctuated by crackles of lightning that briefly show up behind her in the background. GIANA [to Mona, lovingly]: Don't worry, I'll try to aim us all somewhere that has a garbage can. Or a picture of Ronald Reagan.
