Time Lady of L.A. #14: Pages 11-12

Page 11, 6 Panels- Sherif Basha, 1981 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Cut to Giana a few moments later from a 180-degree flipped perspective. It shows her looking back in Mona's direction to finish the second half of her statement from the last panel of the previous page. You can see the same street side setting that we saw in the previous panel as the three of them and Feli9 near the end of the sidewalk that they're closing in on. GIANA [Cont., to Mona]: Anything more you can tell us that can help us find him? Panel 2: We shift the focus over to the left at Amanda. A split second after Ms. Franklin's question, we see her also turn her head to the side. Her eyes looking back over towards Mona as well. She takes on the same quizzical tone and train of thought as her friend. You can partially see other buildings on the street as she walks by. AMANDA [to Mona]: Namely, what time did he actually appear in Cairo? Panel 3-4: Cut to Mona as she finally catches up with the future heroines. Her sword long since holstered on the left side of her belt. She looks down and thinks to herself as Amanda (who is partially visible on the right of the panel view) turns back to see where she's walking. In Panel 4, she looks back up toward Giana to address her just as the three of them and Feli9 stop at the edge of the sidewalk. MONA [pondering as she walks; Panel 3]: Hmm...I can't remember exactly. I know it was sometime in the afternoon, after some big "BANG!" in the sky. GIANA [Off-Panel, to Mona; Panel 3]: What did it sound like? MONA [Cont.; Panel 4]: Well...like same type of "BANG!" that we just went through getting here. Panel 5: Back to Amanda in a setting similar to the one that we saw in Panel 3. The lone difference being that she has stopped at the edge of the sidewalk, waiting for the crosslight to turn green. She looks back in Mona's direction as she's set to do the same thing, heard through the sound of her footsteps off-panel along with those of Giana's. AMANDA [slightly correcting, to Mona]: Actually, we call it "Fworping." MONA [Off-Panel, confused to Amanda]: What? Panel 6: We widen the layout slightly to take in all three of our female heroines waiting at the edge of the sidewalk. Giana standing on the left of the panel view, Amanda on the right side, and Mona as well as the robotic feline Feli9 in the middle splitting the difference. AMANDA [to Mona]: How we travel around in time...we call it "Fworping." MONA [nods, slightly understanding the meaning]: Huh...that actually sounds pretty cool. GIANA [grinning proudly]: My thoughts exactly! Page 12, 5 Panels- Sherif Basha, 1981 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. A couple of moments after the action of said panel, as Giana's grin settles back down slightly, we see her shift her focus over to her pocket. A group of pedestrians is stepping over from the farther area of the sidewalk to the same area that our three heroines are standing in. You can see around the left corner of the panel view the traffic cross light, which is still red as they speak. GIANA [reaching for something, to Amanda and Mona]: So, what time is it here? MONA [to Giana, a little surprised]: Don't you have a clock on that chunk of plastic you're holding? GIANA [Bubble 2]: Normally, the time is customizable along with the date pre- and post-Fworping. Panel 2-3: A two-part set of panels centered around the same setting and layout that we saw in the previous panel. In Panel 2, as Ms. Franklin finally grabs hold of the smart phone-shaped object out of her pocket with her free hand, we see Mona lift her wrist up slightly (showing her watch) and looking down at it for a spell. In Panel 3, a couple of beats later, we hear a loud explosion out in the distance of the city. It's loud enough that the timeline local pedestrians, as well as Giana and Amanda are jarred from their train of thought. Mona, meanwhile, is gazing over at the watch. GIANA [Cont., to Mona; Panel 2]: But sometimes, during the process, the electricity from the temporal ball can make the timing mechanism a bit haywire-- FELI9 [interjecting in a robotic voice; Panel 2]: --along with the power of buildings in a five-block radius of the landing site. MONA [to Giana, optimistic; Panel 2]: Lucky for us, we have a little bit of 20th century tech to help us out. MONA [Cont., less optimistic and a bit surprised; Panel 3]: Which also appears to have gone to shi-- SOUND EFFECT [Panel 3]: BOOOMMM! Panel 4: Cut to a close-up of our three heroines and their robotic feline. Each of them looking up in the direction of where they heard the big boom, and each preparing themselves for whatever big battle is set to come their way. No one more so than Mona herself whose wrist has dropped back to her side, moving without looking toward her holstered sword. AMANDA [to Giana, trying to get a hold of the situation]: That was the big bad boom, wasn't it? GIANA [nods, to Amanda]: I'd say so, Mandy....[to Feli9] Fe, can you get a bead on the source of the explosion? MONA [steely looking out toward the left; deadly serious]: No need...I know now! Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. We see Giana and Amanda look on with a degree of worry and perturbedness as Mona runs away from them and off across the sidewalk. The sound of her energy sword being unsheathed barely audible off-panel in the distance and to the left. GIANA [sighs, annoyed]: For fuck's sake... AMANDA [to Giana]: I miss hoverboards!
