Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #3: Pages 15-16
Page 15, 5 Panels- In-Between Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels set from the point of view over Ghede's shoulder (at least in two of the three panels) watching the Charybdis lurching forward toward the Dhom. You can see a speck at the front of the ship whose outline represents Avain with his bazooka. What she sees is, in Panel 1, a large explosion hits the creature's chest and spreads upward toward its face. In Panel 2, the creature stumbles back as the flames and smoke spread out to the ether. And in Panel 3, as the Charybdis prepares to go after the meddlesome human once again, we see Ghede rise up from the broken hunk of tree to join in. The rhythms of "The Drama You've Been Craving" by Sleater-Kinney piercing the sky. GHEDE [translated from Haitian Creole; Panel 1]: Damn, Avi... GHEDE [Cont., Panel 2]: Leave some for me! GHEDE [singing]: "Oh I wait (I'm a time bomb) For something more today (I'm a fuse)" Panel 4: Action shot coming in from the side of the Haitian guerrier leaping off the tree in a heroic, arrow-like pose. Her speed just beginning to increase as her Molltach, gripped in both hands, rises high above her body in the same coal black design with the requisite matching mystical aura around it. GHEDE [Cont. singing, increasingly defiant]: "You know the place it stinks (tongue is tired) I smell like despair (from over use)" Panel 5: Same setting as the previous panel. The layout changes ever so slightly compared to the last panel, moved at a bit of an angle focusing on our heroine's stoic, ready to kick some ass face. Her overall speed increasing over the brief handful of seconds that has elapsed. As this occurs, you can see the top of her Molltach bending into a bit of a T formation. GHEDE [Cont. singing, proudly defiant]: "All the bridges gonna burn gonna fall down Burn it down it's so hot it's so hot hot (is it all on you)" Page 16, 5 Panels- Charybdis' Side, In-Between Panel 1: We move a few moments later to a slightly elevated shot of our heroine, primarily of her back, as she approaches the beast set to strike. You can see the gaze of the Charybdis turning to face its attacker to counter. GHEDE [Cont. singing; translated from Haitian Creole]: "The clock I'm punching in (I'm a monster) Work till I can't give (I'm a machine)" Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few moments pass, with only a handful of feet separating the two combatants, another explosion comes in between them, knocking Ghede slightly off-course a bit. GHEDE [Cont. singing]: "Now there's no time left (and where I'm headed) No time left for anything..." Panel 3: Cut to a profile shot of the Haitian guerrier seconds later. The flames at this point have been evenly dispersed down off-panel toward the ground. She looks down in the direction of the unseen Dhom where Avain is standing. GHEDE [to Avain, translated from French; annoyed]: Watch the aim, Avi! Panel 4: Cut to Avain standing at the front of the Dhom. The bulk of the bazooka rested over his right shoulder, looking up at his superheroic compatriot. You can see part of the steering wheel as well as part of the damaged ship in the background behind him. AVAIN [to Ghede, translated from French; apologetic]: Apologies, specses! Got a little twitchy on the trigger. Panel 5: Back to Ghede a few moments later. She flashes a halfway smirk at Avain's explanation, turning her focus back toward Charybdis. The Molltach now in a T-shape at this point. You can see the lizard creature's arm moving toward her from the left side of the panel view as she moves. GHEDE [singing]: "(it's so obscene)..."
