Time Lady of L.A. #14: Pages 19-20

Page 19, 8 Panels- Tarmac/Street, Cairo West Air Base/Sherif Basha, 1981 Cairo Egypt

Panel 1: Cut to a shot of William standing in front of the aircraft as it comes to a full stop a handful of feet behind him. The portal from which it emerged slowly starts to fade from view behind the massive aircraft. A defiantly wide grin is plastered on the man's face, slipping the handheld device back into his pocket as the men in military fatigues look on at the beautiful aircraft with awe.

WILLIAM FELTON [to Air Chief Marshal, translated from Egyptian Arabic]: Welcome to the 21st century!

Panel 2: Cut to a shot of the amazed Air Chief Marshal (standing on the right of the panel view) and the equally amazed Pilot Officer next to him on the left of the panel view. They both watch as the aircraft does something amazing off-panel. The veteran soldier turns his head slightly toward his underling.

PILOT OFFICER [stunned, translated from Egyptian Arabic]: It's...it's disappearing completely from view! AIR CHIEF MARSHAL [translated from Egyptian Arabic, to the Pilot Officer]: Get the Vice President's chief of staff on the phone. Now.

Panel 3: Cut to a shot of Giana (on the right of the panel view) and Amanda (on the left) running up Sherif Basha, sidestepping past people as quick as they could. Though not with the same tempo and spirit that they once had when they last saw them in Page 13, given that it's 10 minutes after the action of that page. The sweat is highly visible on both of their faces, giving them a glow thanks in part to the light of the sun above them. Feli9 is seen flying in between them in the foreground, highly unaffected by the exersion.

AMANDA [out of breath, wiping the sweat from her forehead; to Giana]: You have...any... idea...where she's going? GIANA [out of breath, shaking her head]: The frack...if I...know, Mandy...

Panel 4: Close-up on Ms. Franklin's face a few moments later. She tilts her head over in Amanda's direction slightly in order to address her. In the background, you can see a tiny section of Basha nearby (namely the traffic, both on the street and the foot traffic on the other side of the street) as the corner of Bank Masr starts to come into view on the right of the panel view.

GIANA [Cont., to Amanda]: All I know is Feli9 says that Mona's on the right track. It may sound nuts, but I trust Fe and her... FELI9 [Off-Panel, in robotic voice]: Cab!

Panel 5: We move to a shot, showing the backs of both Giana and Amanda as they've stopped running. They both look on and watch Mona standing five blocks from where they are, holding up a nearby cabbie with her energy sword. The corner of Bank Masr that was only partially visible in the previous panel is now more prominently in view in the same right area.

GIANA [exasperated]: ...Shit!

Panel 6: Cut to a front shot of our two heroines from the future a couple of beats later. Envigorated by a sudden jolt of energy, they both run after her again. The background behind them shows a few buildings (including the Freedom Hostel) nearby as well as some other pedestrians just as they're walking past them.

GIANA [yelling with concern, to Mona]: Mona...MONA! AMANDA [yelling underneath her, also with concern; to Mona]: Mona, wait up!

Panel 7-8: A two-part set of panels that center back on a close-up shot of Mona, watching as Giana and Amanda run toward her position. In Panel 7, we see her open the back door to the cab and start to make her way inside. The sounds of yelling from the two future heroines still heard in the background of this as well as in Panel 8. It's here that, as she steps inside and closes the door, we see the metallic claws of Feli9 forcefully hold the door back just before it closes.

AMANDA [Cont. Off-Panel, to Mona; Panel 7]: Wait for us... GIANA [Off-Panel, to Mona; Panel 7]: Where the hell are you going now?! GIANA [Cont., to herself; Panel 8]: This would be so cool...if it wasn't so damn exhausting!

Page 20, 7 Panels- Cab, 1981 Cairo Egypt

Panel 1-2: Cut to an interior shot of the cab from the front seat looking back. From left to right, we see our three heroines tumbling inside with a hard "THUD!" on the upholstered seats. Feli9 gliding in just in front of them, landing in the bottom floor of the backseat effortlessly. You can see the driver in the right foreground of the shot, looking back at the two of them in Panel 1 as the cab goes into gear and starts to drive by Panel 2. It's here in Panel 2 that we also see Giana, Amanda and Mona try to straighten back out in a seated position as the car continues on to its still unknown destination.

Panel 3: Cut to Giana (who's taken a position on the left backseat) a minute later. The background from the windows showing the street quickly moving in connection with the cab quickly coming to speed. There's a look of deep consternation on her face, trying to get to the bottom of what had just happened. All as her robotic feline compatriot hops up on her lap.

GIANA [to Mona, exasperated]: You wanna tell me what the hell that was about?

Panel 4: Back to Mona on the opposite side of the backseat. The same type of rapidly changing background setting through the windows that we saw in the previous panel is visible here behind Ms. Nasser. Her sword pointing down toward the floor. She still fumes with a pool of anger in the pit of her stomach, though she tries to contain it as she speaks.

MONA [to Giana, seething]: Sorry, I--I wasn't thinking straight. Happens to me sometimes when... MONA [Cont., Bubble 2]: I need--I want these fuckers to pay for what they've done! AMANDA [Off-Panel]: And we will...

Panel 5: Cut to Amanda seated around the middle seat in the threesome. Her friend looking on behind her over her shoulder as the conversation goes on. There's a sense of empathy and wanting to calm the situatio down, which Giana shares as well. The background of the windows changing on the same pace that we saw in the past couple of panels.

AMANDA [Cont., pointing to the cabbie; to Mona]: All we need is where the hell you were heading to in a hurry. Before you held up this poor dude's cab to get here. GIANA [sees something deeper, prods; to Mona]: You know where William popped up...don't you?

Panel 6-7: Back to Mona in the same position that we saw her in back in Panel 4. She looks up from the floor slightly. The sword now resting on the hard beige carpet as the car zooms along quicker than before, rapidly changing as it moves northward. A look of truthfulness that overtakes the rage for a brief period which carries over as she turns toward the two of them in Panel 7.

MONA [Panel 6]: I wasn't certain when we got here. But the moment I heard that explosion, saw where it came from...there was no doubt in my mind. It's the same place Free Tahrir have been scoping out for years. MONA [Cont., to Giana and Amanda; Panel 7]: Cairo West Air Base.
