Time Lady of L.A. #14: Pages 21-22
Page 21, 6 Panels- Cairo West Air Base, 1981 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Cut back to the front entrance to the Base, 20 minutes after we left things in the beginning of Page 19. William and the Air Chief Marshal stand next to one another at the top of the small staircase that leads to the glass entrance doors behind them. The Pilot Officer has left from view back into the base, preparing for the arrival of a special guest as the two men we see here in the panel. As they speak, you can hear the sound of commotion and action taking place inside the base, increasing in quantity and pitch with each panel that follows on the page. AIR CHIEF MARSHAL [stoic, matter of factly; translated from Egyptian Arabic]: Mr. Mubarrak should be arriving momentarily, Mr. Felton. WILLIAM FELTON [nodding knowingly; translated from Egyptian Arabic]: Good, good...now, we can get down to business. Panel 2: Cut to a close-up of Mr. Felton a second later. His head tilts to the side to directly address the seasoned military man face-to-face. You can see in his eyes his mind already working well ahead of the current parameters, dealing with the next steps in the great plan. WILLIAM FELTON [Cont., to the Air Chief Marshal]: I know your military likes to pride itself as being the most formidable fighting force in the region. But what if I can tell you...your military could become the most formidable and dominant this world has ever seen. WILLIAM FELTON [Cont., Bubble 2]: This is the world, the future that I come bearing for you and the fine people of this nation. Panel 3-4: Back to the Air Chief Marshal a couple of beats later. His head has tilted down to the ground slightly, deep in contemplative thought. His eyes showing off more of a hybrid of curiosity and confusion emotionally as he speaks face to face with the businessman by the time we reach Panel 4. As we saw in the background behind Mr. Felton in Panel 2, we see another section of the front of the Cairo West Air Base behind him. AIR CHIEF MARSHAL [unsure, Panel 3]: There is something that's been on my mind since your arrival, Mr. Felton... AIR CHIEF MARSHAL [Cont., to William; Panel 4]: Why Egypt? There must be a reason why you chose this country at this time. Panel 5: Cut back to Mr. Felton a few moments later. The background similar to what we saw back in Panel 2. He flashes a knowing smile and nods slightly at the statement. Though you can see in his eyes a hidden corner of truth that he plans on keeping concealed for the time being. As he's speaking, off around the left side of the panel view, you can hear the sound of a row of cars start to come closer to the base entrance from the street. WILLIAM FELTON [coy, to the Air Chief Marshal]: There is...but it would not enthuse your employer too much. Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. William's attention is pulled a minute later as he notices the Presidential convoy come into view at the front of the base. His body language and demeanor change quickly to take on the head of state, though with little effort or strain for him. As if he'd done it a million times before over the years...which he has. WILLIAM FELTON [Cont., smirks]: Speaking of which... Page 22, 6 Panels- Front entrance/Outside the gate, Cairo West Air Base, 1981 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Cut to a few moments later, looking over the shoulder of the Pilot Officer and the Air Chief Marshal. They're both just starting to set off toward the front of the convoy as it drives toward the front and starts to park. You can see that Mr. Felton has a pretty solid head start compared to the others, already making his way from the last step of the small staircase toward the front car where President Mubarrak is sitting. SOUND EFFECT [from the back car of the convoy]: SCCREEAACH! GIANA [Caption]: "They can't see us from here, right?" Panel 2: Cut to our three heroines standing in the middle of the street, looking over at the Air Base in front of them off-panel. Mona is seen standing in the middle of the group with Giana on the left side and Amanda on the right. In the background, along with a few buildings and the cityscape in the distance, you can see the cab already tearing off full speed away from the situation. GIANA [Cont., to Mona]: If not, please tell me you kept some of that sweet stealth tech from 1985. MONA [looking down, reaching into the back pocket of her coat with her free hand]: I might have something hidden here somewhere if you could just... FELI9 [near Amanda's feet, in robotic voice looking toward the right]: Cars! Panel 3-4: An action shot in Panel 3 of the ladies retreating toward a safe area hidden from view of the oncoming cars. The fronts of a few that are in view are similar to what we saw from Pres. Mubarrak's convoy in the previous page. In Panel 4, we move to a shot of our heroines, configured as they were in Panel 2. Each of them observing the line of cars from behind as they make their way into the Air Base, albeit with different levels of emotion. AMANDA [looking hard curiously at the line of cars; Panel 4]: Wait a minute, is...is that a government logo? GIANA [slightly despondent; Panel 4]: Shit! We're too late, aren't we? MONA [determined and angered; Panel 4]: Not for what I have planned! GIANA [desperate to Mona; Panel 4, Bubble 2]: Mona--MONA! Panel 5: Action shot showing Giana and Mona a couple of seconds later. Giana's arm reaches out and pulls Mona back toward the hideaway as the cars enter the base off-panel. Ms. Nasser looks back toward Giana, flashing a frustrated glare back toward her future cohort jus as she lifts up toward a half-bent, half-standing position. GIANA [Cont., to Mona heightened with a degree of rationality in her voice]: Are you insane?! It's suicide! We're totally outnumbered in terms of firepower, not to mention whatever future tech W's brought from my time. MONA [snarling, to Giana]: So, what the hell do you suggest, future girl? GIANA [Bubble 2]: First off, it's "Time Lady" and actually... Panel 6: Cut to a close-up of Ms. Franklin a few moments later. She softens slightly from the previous panel and flashes a knowing grin. Her body just starting to move to a straightened position as she speaks. Around the left side of the panel view, you can see Amanda start to appear in a straightened position, looking on as her friend starts to formulate a plan. GIANA [Cont., to Mona]: I think I might have a far less suicidal, but still equally crazy, way to get inside.
