Time Lady of L.A. #14: Pages 25-26

Page 25, 6 Panels- Tarmac, Cairo West Air Base, 1981 Cairo Egypt Panel 1: Action shot from the side showing the three of them as they run off toward the part of the tarmac where the planes are. You can hear off around the left of the panel view the explosions caused from Feli9's fireworks display continue on. In the faces of each of our heroines is a sense of control and purpose that comes with their collective mission. The bodies configure in much the same arrangement we saw in the last panel of the previous page. MONA [in the center of the group, looking forward]: Alright, the easy part's taken care of. GIANA [in the left of the group in the background of the shot, also looking forward; ponderous]: Now, all we need to do is find the shiny, 21st century-looking technology before it turns Cairo into the set of a disaster movie. AMANDA [in the right of the group near the foreground, looking forward; confidently]: Shouldn't be too hard. All we gotta do is find the one person being protected by a large phalanx of people. GIANA [interjecting, Bubble 2]: If they firmly has their support. AMANDA [Bubble 2]: Yeah... Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, including the layout of Giana, Mona and Amanda. A few minutes pass by from Panel 1 to this one, and we see our heroines stop upon discovering something out toward the left of the panel view. The look of surprise mutually painted upon each of their faces upon seeing it. The background behind him has changed slightly to take in the fronts of a few of the Egyptian Air Force planes on the Base tarmac specific to the late '70s-early '80s era that are still upright and untouched. AMANDA [Cont., stunned]: ...Or one big person appears in a shiny suit of Iron Man armor (there's something I thought I'd never say in my lifetime)! M [Off-Panel, through a robotic filter; to Giana and Amanda]: Hello, ladies... Panel 3: Cut to a shot of M standing in front of the Haddad Ifrit back on the ground as the chaos around them starts to settle down. Its invisible outline made partially visible for the reader as they speak. M's right hand drifts down to their side, moving in the direction of their gun. M [Cont., moving toward our heroines]: I've been expecting your arrival! Panel 4: Cut back to the three heroines a few seconds later. Giana is the one to first move forward toward the hulking behemoth, followed slightly more timidly by Amanda on the opposite side of the group with Mona not far behind. As they speak, you can hear off-panel the sound of a handful of troops charging back in to the fight upon discovering the intruders. GIANA [remarks, to M]: Dr. Polcino...is that you? It's me, Giana. I know you fell off the map a week after the incident at L.A. Live. You are a hell of a lot more than another TyCorp lackey. Panel 5: Cut to a back shot of Ms. Franklin a moment later, looking back out toward M's direction. You can also see the back of Amanda to the left as she stands next to her friend. Mona follows through shortly after around the right side. M has stopped four feet in front of our titular heroine. Their hand is now firmly looped over the handle to her weapon, ready to pull it out. In the background, as this goes on, you can hear the sounds of soldiers saying in Egyptian Arabic "Ready...Aim..." M [to Giana, angered]: I don't work for TyCorp...and the Doctor you're looking for has been dead for quite some time! GIANA [curious, to M]: What do you mean, "dead"? AMANDA [remark snarkily, ignoring Giana's question; to M]: Yet here you are, backing up the bad guy in the middle of their evil plot... M [Bubble 2, to Amanda and Giana]: There's more to the story than you two can... Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. M has stopped mid-thought upon seeing the off-panel gentlemen set to fire their weapon. As for our heroines, they remain oblivious to the discovery of the shooter at this point. The only exception being Giana at the center of the shot whose head is just turned to her left in order to discover what it is M's yelling about. M [Cont. yelling, to all of them]: DUCK! Page 26, 7 Panels- Tarmac, Cairo West Air Base, 1981 Cairo Egypt Panel 1-4: A four-part set of panels. Each one centered on Giana within a span of minutes as a hale of bullets stream in to view, directed at the young woman's chest and stomach area. But they disintegrate into dust in the fire of a powerful green force field around her. A field that steadily grows chaotic right till Panel 4, which forms a emerald-like design in the panel view. GIANA [looking to the left, becoming steadily scared; Panel 1]: What the.... GIANA [Cont., looking to the right, increasingly terrified; Panel 2]: What the hell's happening to me? GIANA [to Amanda, firmly terrified as a ball of white light consumes her vision; Panel 3]: Mandy... GIANA [to Mona, despondent and sad as well as terrified; Panel 4]: MonnAAAHHH!!... Panel 5-7: A three-part set of panels that connect to form a single setting. That of the greater base surrounding Giana just as she explodes a split second after what we saw in Panel 4. In Panel 5, the corresponding shockwave can be seen knocking Amanda back and off her feet with the force of a bomb, along with a gathering of soldiers farther off in the distance. In Panel 6, we see the same shockwave ripple toward the fencing on the Base. And in Panel 7, we see Mona affected in a very similar fashion to what we witnessed with Amanda in Panel 5. The lone difference being the holstered energy sword on her waist disintegrating due to the blast. All the while, the "AAAHHH!!" that punctuated Panel 4 stretches out in the sky through each of the three panels.
