Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #4: Pages 1-2

Page 1, 6 Panels- Avain's Dhom, In-Between Panel 1: We open to a shot of the Dhom a hour and change after we last saw them in the last panel of the previous page. The trees in the background are beautiful and green, a stark contrast to the red and yellow-green entrail covered setting we saw in the last few pages of the previous issue. Avain is at the wheel, looking out at the sea in front of him with a tension noticeable in his body. Ghede, meanwhile, can be seen coming up from the right walkway area of the ship toward his position. Panel 2-3: Slight close-up on the front of the ship moments later. Avain glances over on his periphery for the first time to notice the Haitian guerrier coming toward his direction. He doesn't really acknowledge her formally in Panel 2 in terms of the body language. By Panel 3, however, we see him turn his head slightly as Ghede appears alongside him in the background. GHEDE [to Avain, translated from French; Panel 3]: So far, so good, eh? AVAIN [translated from French, cautious; Panel 3]: Yeah... Panel 4: Cut to a proper focus shot on Avain a moment later. His hands grip both sides of the wheel as he speaks. You can see a little flicker of a smile come across his lips, as well as the forested area that exists on the opposite part of the river to what we've seen up to this point. AVAIN [Cont.]: The gap in life-threatening incidents is quite nice. Though I can't help but think it'll be short-lived. Panel 5: Back to Ghede as it goes on. She lets out a slightly contained chuckle at the statement from her friend. As we've seen throughout this page, more of the passing forested area can be seen in the background as she speaks. GHEDE: You're thinking about the Michelis job again, aren't you? Panel 6: Back to Avain a split second later. His smile fades slightly as his head turns back toward the open river. His body language, however, loosens slightly and becomes more comfortable in the silence compared to the first panel. AVAIN: Can you blame me for thinking that, Ghed? Yes, the job occurred decades ago. But there are some pretty disconcerting similarities between then and now... Page 2, 6 Panels- Avain's Dhom, In-Between Panel 1: The layout pulls out slightly a few moments later to take in the appearance of Ghede still standing alongside her friend. Avain, meanwhile, moves his hand toward the ship's transmission ready to change gear. AVAIN [Cont., translated from French]: Tropical In-Between, mega-rich dude in distress, our asses chucked into the fire multiple times-- GHEDE [Off-Panel, translated from French]: There is one difference though. Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. You can see Ghede taking a step and a half toward her friend, who at this point has his hand on the knob of the transmission and starts to change it. GHEDE [Cont., grinning]: There wasn't a 4,000-year-old Japanese water god trying to kill us! Besides... Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A second of time elapses from the previous panel. We see the Haitian guerrier turn her head out to the water as the sounds emanating from the engine heightens ever so slightly underneath them. As for Avain, you can see his hand just beginning to slip off of the top of the transmission and back toward the steering wheel. GHEDE: That job wasn't all that bad, if I remember correctly. AVAIN [confused]: What the hells are you talking about? Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Avain stops midway from the glare he intended to flash toward Ghede in Panel 3. A figurative lightbulb flashing over what precisely his friend is talking about. As for the titular heroine, she just stands back and nods waiting for the revelation to come. Her arms crossed over her chest. AVAIN: Oh, yes...Mr. Michelis! Panel 5-6: Avain leans his head back up above the steering wheel. His eyes once more looking out at the sea in front of them as his other hand latches on to the side of the wooden wheel. A smile coming across his face, reminiscing about it overall. In Panel 6, the view moves toward Ghede who has her arms back down to her side. AVAIN [Cont., Panel 5]: I gotta say, I did not suspect he was a closeted homosexual. GHEDE [Off-Panel, snarkily; Panel 5]: I had a pretty good idea, judging from the overpowering aroma of cheap perfume he had on. GHEDE [Cont., to Avain; Panel 6]: I don't think I've apologized for the attempted assault Michelis tried just before we left that I-B. AVAIN [Off-Panel, to Ghede; Panel 6]: All is forgiven. Besides, I got to find out then that those in the I-B are able to feel crot--
