Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #4: Pages 13-14
Page 13, 5 Panels- Avain's Dhom, In-Between Panel 1: A few moments later, with the setting and layout similar to what we saw in the last panel of the previous page, we see our titular heroine reaching over to uncork the bottle to open up the fine bottle of alcohol. Her opposite hand moving over to hold the base of the glass bottle at the same moment, resulting in the two glasses looking as if they're floating in mid-air next to her. GHEDE [Cont., translated from French; to Avain]: That was the first time our paths formally crossed in your In-Between. Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Another moment passes by, and Ghede is able to uncork the bottle of Clément. Her left hand holding the cork as it separates a tiny distance from the rest of the glass bottle. You can see in the background next to her the crystal glasses that are now properly floating in the air as a result of her powers. GHEDE [looking down to the floor, reminiscing]: Still ranks as one of the prettiest that I've ever seen in centuries. Panel 3: Back to Avain standing at the driver's area in the same position he's been the past few pages. His hands firmly holding both sides of the wooden wheel. He chuckles slightly at the exclamation, glancing and turning his head slightly toward Ghede in order to address her properly. AVAIN [translated from French]: Yes, thank you...was that why you pulled me out of mine rather than shift me over to the other side? Panel 4: Back to Ghede a moment later. She shakes her head at the question while one of the glasses starts to float in front of her. The bottle, meanwhile, starts to move in position just above the glass ready to pour its contents. GHEDE [back up to Avain; shrugs]: Beauty can take on a litany of different designs. Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. With the glass firmly hovering in front of her, the Haitian guerrier pours out the bright yellow alcohol into it. Her eyes still focused squarely on her friend as she speaks and does this. GHEDE [Cont.]: It was the darkness that drew me, which in and of itself...holds its own beauty. Page 14, 6 Panels- Avain's Dhom Panel 1: Cut to a close-up shot of our two heroes a moment later. One of the glasses is filled just under the brim with the sweet rum from the Clément, and just begins to make its way toward Avain who has let go of the wheel at this point. Ghede can be seen filling the second glass with the same alcohol as she speaks. GHEDE [translated from French, a little sorrowful]: It wasn't until later that I learned of the melancholy base to that dark beauty. AVAIN [to Ghede, translated from French]: It wasn't melancholy, Ghed. It was...a struggle. Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Avain reaches over and grabs the glass of rum from the air, holding it just below his midsection. Ghede, meanwhile, can be seen pouring more of the Clément into her own glass as she listens to her friend speak. AVAIN [Cont.]: Trying to conceal my true identity, my soul to a world that would rather see you not exist. GHEDE [angered smirk]: I know that feeling... Panel 3: Slight close-up on Ghede a few moments later. She's finished pouring herself a glass of the fine rum. Her face still holding a degree of barely contained anger, reminiscing about the same feeling Avain describes as she grabs the glass of rum. GHEDE: But that is the past... Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The Haitian guerrier takes her glass and raises it up toward the sky in a toasting manner. A smile coming over her face as Ghede starts to hit her usual cocky flourish. GHEDE [Cont.]: And the present has too many asses for us to kick! Panel 5: Cut to Avain alongside her just as his friend finishes speaking. He smiles a little wider than Ghede and lets out a slightly louder laugh. His glass of Clément rising up toward his lips as he responds. AVAIN: Indeed it does, speaking of which... Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A second later, with the rim of the glass now just at the edge of his bottom lip. He still looks over in the direction of his friend, lifting the rum glass up and letting the alcohol slide into his mouth. AVAIN [Cont., glancing up; gurgled]: Did you see that shadow?
