Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #4: Pages 15-16

Page 15, 5 Panels- Avain's Dhom Panel 1: Cut to Ghede a moment later. She flashes her friend a bit of a puzzled eyebrow upon the question, still generally looking out at the river in front of them. The glass of Clément in her hand just in front of her mouth. You can see the corresponding bottle still floating behind her as she speaks. GHEDE [translated from French; puzzled]: What shadow? Panel 2: Back to Avain who points up to the sky with his free hand. A little touch of desperation can be seen in his voice and body language. His glass of rum is lowered down toward his side as he speaks. AVAIN [translated from French, slightly higher tone of voice]: The shadow that was above us--just now! Panel 3: Back to Ghede a few moments later. She glances up in the direction where Avain was pointing. Her body language and mentality straddling the line between "interested" and "believing it's a pure load of crap." AVAIN [Cont., Off-Panel]: Don't tell me I was the only one who saw that. GHEDE: I won't tell you then, Avi... Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. It's an action shot of the Haitian guerrier walking closer to the front of the ship. The bottle of still floating Clément can be seen, albeit faintly at this point, in the background along with Avain whose gaze is back toward eye level looking at his friend. GHEDE [Cont., somewhat playfully]: Damn if I'm not thinking it though! Panel 5: We follow Ghede a few moments later as she reaches the front of the ship. She looks around in search of the shadow, still straddling the line that she had in Panel 3, leaning slightly toward the latter. Avain and the bottle closer to the center of the ship have left the panel view, replaced in the background by the ever changing forest area. Page 16, 7 Panels- Avain's Dhom Panel 1-2: A two-part set of panels that focuses solely on our titular heroine as she reaches the ship's front railing. In Panel 1, you can see her still disbelievingly looking toward the sky covering more of the area in search of the mysterious "shadow" than we saw in the last panel of the previous page. In Panel 2, however, she's taken aback by the sight of a shadow that comes down over her. Panel 3: Slight close-up on Ghede's face a split second later. You can properly see at this point the look of fear and surprise in her eyes (at least what we believe is fear and surprise) as she comes into contact with the mystery image. GHEDE [translated from French]: By the gods...! Panel 4: Cut to Avain at the wheel, which he has gripped on both sides along with the rum glass which can be seen sparingly down stage in the panel view. His head and the top half of his body leans in the direction of his friend, eagerly waiting to hear the explanation for the mysterious image. AVAIN [translated from French, to Ghede]: What--what is it? Panel 5: Back to Ghede a few moments later. You can see in her body language that she has very much mellowed out compared to when we saw her in Panel 3. Every pretense of fear and shock has melted off of her as she turns toward her friend. GHEDE [playfully sarcastic]: I think it was...a hawk! Panel 6: Back to Avain a split second later. He leans his head and the top half of his body back behind the wheel, letting out a displeased chuckle and shaking his head. You can see his upstage hand move slightly on the edge of the wheel as he speaks. AVAIN: Dear Christ, you can be a bastard sometimes! Panel 7: Back to Ghede in an action shot as she walks back up toward the driving area and Avain. She gives a casual shrug, raising her own glass of expensive rum up near the edge of her left shoulder as she speaks and walks. GHEDE: Part of my charm, Avi, my friend...
