Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #5: Pages 3-4
Page 3, 6 Panels- Kagu-Tsuchi's Mountaintop Dwelling Panel 1: Cut to a shot a split second later from a doorway where we see Kagu-Tsuchi standing underneath it. It doesn't take long to realize this doorway is the same way the water god walked through in the last panel of the previous page. He looks over toward the left side of the panel view. His demeanor softening slightly, becoming more welcome as he addresses whoever it is he's talking to. KAGU-TSUCHI [translated from Japanese]: Good day, Mr. Ozawa... Panel 2: The setting pulls out slightly, showing more of the rustic interior with its sensible brown leather couch and framed photographs of indiscriminate identity hanging on the walls in the background. Kagu-Tsuchi moves toward a dining room table where we see, for the first time, Kazuo Ozawa seated and looking at something in front of him. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont., to Kazuo]: I hope the meal arrangement is to your liking. KAZUO OZAWA [perturbed]: I would only say it could, if not for my accursed stomach and its new found sensitivities. Panel 3: Slight close-up on the elder titan of industry a moment later, focused straight on at the table and the person seated at it. He looks over to his right just as the water god is approaching the table. You can see on the plate in front of him a lovely spread of sushi rolls and freshly cooked rice. Its aroma wafting up from the plate toward his weary, beaten and weak face. KAZUO OZAWA [Cont., to Kagu-Tsuchi]: Which you PROMISED to rid from my body, along with the other cursed rigors of old age! KAGU-TSUCHI [Off-Panel]: In due time, Mr. Ozawa... Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. We see the Japanese water god now a moment later show up in view in the right side of the panel view. He peers down toward Kazuo, who shrinks at the sight of the powerful deity looking down at him. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont., to Mr. Ozawa]: But only when the one called Ghede is contained and finally destroyed. KAZUO OZAWA [groans]: Yes, yes...Of course. Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Kagu-Tsuchi moves firmly out of view back toward the right side of the panel view. Kazuo, meanwhile, places his right hand on top of the table. His body clenching, with a slight shake, as if about to rise up from his chair. You can see in his eyes that he's focused on where the water god has moved toward in the moments that separate Panel 5 from Panel 4. KAZUO OZAWA [Cont., to Kagu-Tsuchi]: I don't understand why I had to be taken here to accomplish this task. Panel 6: Cut to a side shot a couple of seconds later. We see the old Mr. Ozawa finally rising up from his chair and turning toward the side of the table in order to address Kagu-Tsuchi. His right hand firmly grips the side edge, using it as a crutch as he speaks. KAZUO OZAWA [Cont.]: Couldn't this all have been done back on Earth? Page 4, 7 Panels- Kagu-Tsuchi's Mountaintop Dwelling Panel 1-2: A two-part set of panels centered around our antagonist who is located in the center-right area of the room (near dead center in terms of panel view). While Panel 1 is basically silent, with the water god looking down at the floor in contemplation, he tilts his head up slightly in Panel 2 to address exactly what was on his mind. KAGU-TSUCHI [translated from Japanese; Panel 2]: Do you know of my story? At least the ones you humans have described of it. Panel 3: Back to Kazuo who is still standing in the same position that he was in the last time we saw him in the previous page. He scratches the back of his head with his right hand, lost in his own bit of self-ponderance. KAZUO OZAWA [translated from Japanese]: A vague recollection of it from my Philosophy class at university... Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Mr. Ozawa, a few moments later, drops his hand from his head back to his side. His gaze moving back, albeit slightly, over to the god who keeps him captive. KAZUO OZAWA [Cont., to Kagu-Tsuchi]: Your father beheaded you, believing that you were the cause of his wife being burnt. He then cut your body into eight pieces which became eight volcanos. But that doesn't seem right if--- KAGU-TSUCHI [Off-Panel]: Grrr... Panel 5: Back to the vengeful Kagu-Tsuchi. After letting out the annoyed growl that we heard in the last panel, the water god paces a couple of steps over toward the far corner of the room. He tries to quell the anger down as he speaks. KAGU-TSUCHI: There is a semblance of truth to the tale. The murder...the betrayal...the molten lava containing the burning tears of my mother Izanami. Panel 6: We move to a moment later. He's stopped moving and has moved his focus squarely toward the unseen human. His left hand moves up to the bottom of his silken robes and starts to lift them to show something. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont.]: But it misses the finer details of what occurred after that tale ends. Panel 7: Close-up on the water god's mid-section. We see a series of dark veins and lines that are shaped in a similar way to fault lines that stretch deep beneath the ocean. There are also eight glows of orange colored fire at different points. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont., Off-Panel]: Namely...the scars!
