Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #5: Pages 5-6
Page 5, 6 Panels- Kagu-Tsuchi's Mountaintop Dwelling Panel 1: Back to Mr. Ozawa as this goes on. He takes half a step forward toward the water god. His neck stretching out and his eyes squinting in order to achieve a proper look at the images contained on the deity's stomach. KAZUO OZAWA [translated from Japanese]: That looks like...Hi no Ringu. KAGU-TSUCHI [Off-Panel, translated from Japanese]: The "Ring of Fire"....yes! Panel 2: Cut to the face of Kagu-Tsuchi a moment later. You can see part of the robe scrunched up in his hand, a result of the action he took in the previous page. He has a look of control and calm in his face as he continues speaking. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont.]: The remnants of my prior humanity, embedded in the very crust of the planet. It is a tapestry that, sadly, I am unable to touch. Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The hand that before held up the part of the robe we saw before has now let go of the fabric, letting it drop just as it does the rest of his arm. His calm has now turned toward one of menace and terrifying fear to anyone looking upon it. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont., menacing smile; to Kazuo]: Now, when it comes to other...more human forms... Panel 4-5: We go back to the elder Mr. Ozawa a moment after hearing the explanation. It's a two-part set of panels that act to form what his response looked like. In Panel 4, he looks on confused at the hidden meaning behind the statement. In Panel 5, a few beats later, the pieces of the puzzle start to come into sharp focus for him. KAZUO OZAWA [Panel 4]: 'Human forms?' But there's no way to... KAZUO OZAWA [Cont., Panel 5; full of dread]: Oh God...you mean? KAGU-TSUCHI [Off-Panel, to Kazuo]: It's actually far easier, given the majority liquid composition of your body. Panel 6: Cut to a full body shot of Kagu-Tsuchi standing just a half dozen steps from Kazuo Ozawa. His eyes following the wealthy human as he struggles off-panel to walk away from the increasingly chaotic scene. You can see the palms of his hands, stretched out in view of the reader, glowing blue. His eyes going clear white as he speaks. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont.]: On the positive side...you will have your immortality. Albeit not the one you had envisioned. Page 6, 6 Panels- Kagu-Tsuchi's Mountaintop Dwelling Panel 1: Action shot a split second later, showing both sides of the confrontation. Kagu-Tsuchi coming from right to left in a thin blue blur that almost resembles a stream of water shot out of a squirt gun. On the left side of the panel view, struggling to stumble away from the oncoming danger is the human titan of industry Kazuo Ozawa. Panel 2: Close-up on Mr. Ozawa's frame a split second later. The full impact of the water god's body smacking into the man's chest, creating a splash effect out toward all sides. You can see on his face and the way his body contorts in agony that the effects of spiritual possession are just beginning to take shape. Panel 3-4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The elder human stumbles backwards for a couple of steps. The same types of pained contorting and struggle is visible throughout Ozawa's body as it fights against the foreign invader. It continues onward into the action of Panel 4. He's stopped moving, gripping the top of a nearby chair as he tries to fight on. He lets out a pained, desperate scream. Panel 5-6: Slight close-up in Panel 5 on the top of the chair where Mr. Ozawa's hand has gripped. The scream continues on hovering over the top of the panel like a cloud, fading considerably as we go into Panel 6. It's here that his fist lets go of the piece of wood; a sign of nonverbal defeat. You can also hear in Panel 6 the sounds of laughing that hover in from left to right, colliding with the previous panel's screams.
