Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #5: Pages 17-18

Page 17, 7 Panels- Avain's Dhom Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels just a split second after we last left things in the last panel of the previous page. It all focuses on the single action of our two heroes making a single arc into the sky and (in Avain's case) descending, by Panel 3, back on the ground. You can see both of them having a nice chuckle as they finish reminiscing on that moment. As for Ghede, she is alongside her friend hovering a couple of feet off the wood floor. Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. They take an extra second of silence before looking over to the right in the direction of the off-panel shoreline. There is a sense of awe and respect from both of them at the size of task before them, though nowhere frightened or intimidated by it. It is similar in a way to skydivers just before they take the leap. GHEDE [translated from French, looking ground level]: Well...that takes care of the tough part! AVAIN [translated from French, craning his neck up skyward toward the mountain]: If that was the tough part, Ghed... Panel 5: Same setting as the previous panel. Avain turns his head back down and over toward the Haitian guerrier who, at this point has started to glide herself off of the ship and on to more solid ground. Her body already partly taken out of view around the right side of the panel view, chuckling as she moves. AVAIN [Cont., to Ghede; grabbing the Tridentis with both hands horizontally]: I'm happy as hell we got the Tridentis out of the engine room. GHEDE: You know...I've never actually seen the damn thing in action... Panel 6-7: Cut to Ghede around ground level, showing the back of her as she finishes the last part of her descent toward the I-B's idea of terra firma. In Panel 7, just as she's about to touch ground on the beach, the titular heroine turns around to properly address her friend with only a foot and a half of gap between the bottom of her feet and the sand. GHEDE [chuckling, Panel 6]: That's always bugged me. Every other weapon in that "Boom Room" of yours you've used at least once. GHEDE [Cont., to Avain; Panel 7]: What makes it so special? Page 18, 6 Panels- Avain's Dhom Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels with a layout coming horizontally from the edge of the Dhom and its shield. It follows the step-by-step process of the Tridentis activation, starting with Avain pointing the blade to the north. In Panel 2, we see him reach over and press something at the center of the circular attachment. And finally, in Panel 3, we see each of its three sharpened blades change to a light gold yellow. Panel 4: Same setting as the previous panel (Panel 3). The layout changes slightly to take in a full body shot of the good captain and his weapon just as it lets fly a powerful laser beam that shoots out. You can see faintly in the background three smaller beams emanating from each part of the Tridentis, feeding the greater light gold yellow colored beam. Panel 5-6: Cut to the other side of the blast moments later. We see the laser cutting through the tops of dozens of trees many miles from where they are, stretching far off toward Panel 6 to take in the power and size of a single blast. You can see the trees' wooden frames being quickly engulfed in flames as the laser blast passes by.
