Page 9, 7 Panels- Via Varensia, Como Italy Panel 1: Cut to a close-up shot of Vincenzo a few beats after the last line of dialogue from the end of Page 8. The businessman glances in Robin's direction knowingly, nodding as if he knows the subtext before she even says it. The background of the city's nondescript buildings and landmarks passing by behind him as he speaks. VINCENZO [to Robin, with a chuckle]: Ah, you went il furfante. Panel 2: We move to a close-up of Robin in the passenger side seat. She looks over and nods casually at the compliment from the older man. Her eyes glancing down primarily toward her phone which is resting comfortably screen-up on her lap. You can see the same effect that was in play with the background scenery that was seen in the previous panel. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [confused, to Vincenzo]: "il furfante?" VINCENZO [Off-Panel]: Rogue, I believe, is the English equivalent. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [dismissively, but in a courteous way; Bubble 2]: Oh yeah, um...thanks I guess... VINCENZO [Cont., Off-Panel; Bubble 2]: Very courageous and surprising as well, given your size and... Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, with the same effect in the background that we saw. A split second after hearing the further explanation from the businessman, we see Ms. Cartwright becomes instantly perturbed. Her eyes firmly up from the phone's screen to confront the well-dressed man and the slight to come. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [threatening, to Vincenzo]: Choose your next words very carefully, Vinny boy, 'cause I can squash your balls with my phone. I've done it before! Panel 4: Back to a shot of the businessman in a layout and setting similar to what we saw back in the page's first panel. He immediately shifts the tone of his voice toward more of a defusing manner, seeing the level of offense that he did not mean to make with his explanation. VINCENZO [to Robin, apologetically]: My apologies, I--I believe I misspoke. I did not mean to offend you at all. What I meant is that you do not strike me as someone bound for the life of a soldier. Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. After a brief moment of pause that followed the empty space between the two panels, the Businessman looks over from his periphery in the direction of the young woman. His tone and body language now taking on more of a calm and curious tone as he continues. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [to Vincenzo]: I'm not a soldier, I'm...just an analyst. VINCENZO [Cont.]: What drew you to NATO and this secret organization, if I may ask? ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Bubble 2]: Eh, it's cool. Not like I still have a job with them anymore after tonight. Panel 6-7: Back to Robin in the passenger seat. Her eyes looking up toward the sky, just beginning to settle into the first fragments of slumber after a chaotic and highly eventful set of hours for her. The scenery of the city in the background behind her changes and starts to become more wavy and less based in reality as we get to the next panel. Her eyes then fully closed and ready to drift off to dreamland. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont., Panel 6]: Part of it was the fact high school bored the living hell out of me. Which ensured universities weren't beating down the door of my folks' house. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont., Panel 7]: Another part was...I guess I wanted to do some good in the world. Specifically something that didn't involve a lot of physical exertion or firing a gun which I'm shite with. Luckily...I'm pretty brilliant with tech and astronomy and stuff like that. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont.; Panel 7, Bubble 2]: I briefly flirted with going to Silicon Valley in America. But when I heard about the rampaging troll thing in Berlin and the new E.T.A. taskforce NATO was creating, well... Page 10, 6 Panels- Crumlin Wales Panel 1: We flash back to the rooftop of a two-story house somewhere in Crumlin in South Wales late at night. The stars can be seen twinkling beautifully up in the sky in the upper section of the panel. Seated in the primary position of the panel view next to a telescope propped up on a tripod is Robin's father Nathan. He's a brown skinned man in his early 40s dressed in a pair of jeans and a buttoned-up dress shirt with a pair of Reeboks on, looking down toward the window as if waiting for someone. CAPTION [top left corner of the panel]: Cartwright Household Crumlin, Wales 20 Years Ago ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont., Off-Panel]: The Whovian nerd in me couldn't resist! Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few more seconds pass by, and we hear the sound of commotion coming from the bottom of the panel view. Nathan looks over in that direction, shifting his body slightly in order to help out with the person who is about to come into view. NATHAN CARTWRIGHT [to Robin, reaching out to her]: You need help, dear? ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Off-Panel, to Nathan]: I'm fine, Dad! NATHAN CARTWRIGHT [Bubble 2]: I can see that. Still... Panel 3-4: We move to a shot a few moments latersee young 7 year old Robin pop into view, helped out by the hand of her father. We see a little bit of the Jurassic Park T-shirt she's wearing as pajamas as this happens. In Panel 4, the layout shifts slightly as the young girl firmly takes a step onto the shingles. Her baggy plaid trousers dangling over her feet as she walks. Nathan can be seen in the squat position next to her daughter, letting go of her hand after achieving what he set out to do. NATHAN CARTWRIGHT [Cont., Panel 4]: Doesn't hurt to have a bit of help in your corner. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [nod and a yawn, Panel 4]: Thanks, Dad! Panel 5: Cut to a shot of Nathan's face, looking over in the direction of his pride and joy. His body moving in the direction of the telescope as he speaks. In the background, there's a mix of the blackness of the starry night behind him, along with a little bit of illumination on his black skin from the streetlights near the house. NATHAN CARTWRIGHT [to Robin, excited]: So, are you excited to see Hale-Bopp pass tonight? ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Off-Panel]: I...[yawn] I am, Dad. NATHAN CARTWRIGHT [Bubble 2]: Really? You don't look like you are. Panel 6: We move to a shot of Robin's face a second later. Her eyes barely keeping open amongst the setting of the late night. She manages to put together a half-smile as she speaks, moving in the direction of the telescope and her father. The same background and lighting effects that could be seen with Mr. Cartwright is seen here with her, highlighting the black and grey of her shirt. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont., defensively to Nathan]: I drank a whole liter of Coke just so I could be awake enough to see it pass by.
