The Boo-Ya! #3: Pages 17-18
Page 17, 6 Panels- Petrol Station, just outside of Cernobbio Italy Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels centered on our heroine after hopping onto the motorcycle moments after the action from the last panel of the previous page. The helmet resting on top of her head, with the chin strip dangling unstrapped near her right chin. In Panels 1 and 2, we see Robin struggle to try to turn the vehicle on, hopping up and down like she had seen in the movies. In Panel 3, a second later, she sees the starter button to the vehicle staring her directly in the face. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [to the motorcycle, Panel 1]: C'mon, you ginormous, two-wheeled middle-aged crisis...start! MOTORCYCLIST [translated from Earth Italian, incensed]: What the hell, lady?! ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont., Panel 2]: Start for mama! Start... ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [feeling a bit sheepish, Panel 3]: Oh doy... Panel 4-5: A two-part set of panels that connect to a few beats of action in real-time. In Panel 4, we cut to a close-up of the motorcycle's push button with the words "motore starter" labeled above it. Her hand reaching out from the right of the panel view to press it with the click of the helmet's chin strap coming into place in the background. In Panel 5, the layout pulls out to find our human heroine pulling out to the roar of the motorcycle. The cyclist attempting to catch her attention, but failing miserably. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont. Off-Panel, to herself; Panel 4]: Staring me right in the face! MOTORCYCLIST [yelling, to Robin; Panel 4]: Hey... MOTORCYCLIST [reiterating, in a louder tone; Panel 5]: HEY!! Panel 6: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. The motorcyclist stands with his back to the reader, watching the young woman drive off with his ride, fading off into the distance up the road in the left of the panel view. There's another driver who watches the same scene after filling up their car. In the background, around the right side, you can hear the police sirens reaching a crescendo in noise that coincides with the first appearance of a faint glow from the car's headlights. MOTORCYCLIST [angry]: ...Stupid bitch! Page 18, 5 Panels- Strada Statale 340, between Cernobbio and Moltrasio Italy Panel 1-4: We move to a shot of Robin at the wheel of the motorcycle, moving up the highway as fast as she can over the course of five or ten minutes. The bike wobbling slightly in the first pair of panels before starting to settle on to a balanced plane by the time we reach Panel 3. With each preceding panel, we see the glow of the police sirens and lights start to fade more and more in the distance. In Panel 3, we see her look down in the direction of the rearview mirror to see this sight. And in the next panel, she looks out in front of her with a relieved, jovial smile upon her face. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [curious; Panel 2]: They gone...? ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [surprised; Panel 3]: By Tennant's tight ass, they're gone! I beat the cops... ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont.; Panel 4]: WHOO!!! Ah, lady luck- you sweet... SOUND EFFECT [Off-Panel, from the rear of the motorcycle; Panel 4]: BANG! Panel 5: Cut to a close-up of the motorcycle's gas gauge a moment later. The layout of the panel framed that we're seeing things from Ms. Cartwright's POV. To her dismay and annoyance, she realizes that the needle has completely hit the red "E" with the continued banging from the engine spurting out its last bit of life before completely crapping out. For the first time, in this panel, we see the first glow of the morning sun start to come into the scenery. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Off-Panel, angered]: Unmerciful bitch goddess!
