Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #6: Pages 19-20
Page 19, 5 Panels- La Visite National Park, 1992 Panel 1: Cut to a rear shot of the Jeep. We see a burst of exhaust coming out of the back of the car as it drives up the path toward the top right corner of the panel view. The back of Ghede appears hovering twenty feet above, watching the scene as we had seen in the last panel of the previous page. GHEDE [translated from Haitian Creole; to herself]: He's trying to fuck with my head. Panel 2: We move to a shot from the ground looking up toward the sky at our titular heroine as she flies. Her Molltach Minaj rests comfortably in its holster along her side as she observes the situation below. GHEDE [Cont.]: Distract me with old scars, grudges I haven't gotten over while he settles into his "big plan"...the typical god crap! It's tempting to give in to it... Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Still in the same flying motion that we saw of her in the previous panel, along with the ever changing cloudy background behind her, Ghede tilts her head up slightly in order to observe the scenery ahead of the moving Jeep off-panel. GHEDE [Cont.]: But I made a promise to bail the sorry bastard out of here, and...I gotta live up to it. Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. She descends slightly from her previous high position, allowing the bottom of the panel view to catch the tips of a row of trees. Her silver eyes still in the same type of observational mode that we saw in Panel 3. GHEDE: Now...there has to be a way out. Some type of hole or crack I can use to get back-- Panel 5: Cut to a shot of the sky back in front of her, particularly the area located just above the peak of Morne du Cibao located around the center-right of the panel view. You can see a little bit of the back area of the Haitian guerrier, observing in an upright position the little tear that has formed. GHEDE [slight chuckle]: Fairly on-the-nose... Page 20, 5 Panels- La Visite National Park, 1992 Panel 1: Back to a shot of our hero hovering over the skies of this particular piece of dreamscape. The action taking place seconds between here and the end of the previous page. She looks up in the direction of the same tear in the sky which we saw in the last panel of the previous page. A wide half-smile is firmly painted on the sensational specter's face upon seeing this. GHEDE [Cont., translated from Haitian Creole; shrugs]: I can work with this! Panel 2-4: A three-part set of panels. They're all centered around a massive landscape of the Morne du Cibao in the center of the shot. The forested areas swooping down on both sides of the beautiful mountain. You can see a dark speck representing Ghede rising steadily higher with each preceding panel toward the tear hovering over the mountain. Panel 5: Close-up on our Haitian guerrier a minute later. The beautiful blue, partially cloudy skies in proud display in the background behind both our charging heroine and the mysterious tear. We see her just as she's within a handful of feet of entering the tear in the sky. Her body is positioned in such a way that the reader is able to see the heroic swagger in her eyes as she approaches the hole. AVAIN [translated from French; warbly, from within the tear]: Ghedd... GHEDE [shocked]: Avi?
