Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #7: Pages 23-24

Page 23, 5 Panels- In-Between Panel 1-2: Same setting as the last panel of the previous page. The layout widens slightly once more to take in the rest of his body, similar to what was seen in the middle of the previous page. The hole that we saw in the last panel of the previous page has grown in size. The end of which can be seen horizontally to his belly button area. In Panel 2, the bubble suddenly explodes, leaving Avain free once more. AVAIN [Cont., translated from French, shaking his head; Panel 1]: I did not think that song would have the same burrowing qualities of a groundhog... SOUND EFFECT [Panel 2]: POP! AVAIN [Cont.; Panel 2]: Or a worm! Panel 3: A couple of seconds after the action of Panel 2, the good captain can be seen looking down toward the ground. He's placed the Tridentis on the ground, holding firmly with his right hand. His left hand has detached from the base of the weapon, falling down to his side at the same time. Panel 4: Cut to a shot of the desert-like ground a moment later. We see Avain down in a crouched position, picking up the steering wheel that lies face up with his left hand. You can see the bottom of the Tridentis on the right side of the panel view next to his right boot. Panel 5: Up in a standing position, we see him lifting the steering wheel to the FT up toward his abdomen level. He glances up slightly from the top of the wheel, thinking to himself for a period as he plans the next move. AVAIN [muttering to himself]: I'm here! Page 24, 6 Panels- Mount Menaçant, In-Between Panel 1-2: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. The lone change is that we see from the side the good captain is out in mid-stride toward the mountain. In his right hand, dangling down on the side, is the sound of another "CLICK!" from the back of the steering wheel that he's holding. In Panel 2, we see from his upstage hand the top of Tridentis being raised in the air. AVAIN [Cont., translated from French, looking up at the mountain; Panel 1]: Now, to take care of a little bookkeeping with the D... AVAIN [Cont., with a grin; Panel 2]: Before I start kicking some B! Panel 3-5: A three-part set of panels, first starting with a similar setting and layout as the previous panel. Just as a cloud of white energy appears in view around the left side of the panel view, Avain slams the butt of his weapon down on the ground causing a powerful shockwave to appear that sends him skyward. In Panel 4, as he launches high in the air, we see the cloud of energy catch up to the Trap Door, entering through a compartment at the center of the device. In Panel 5, moments later, the good captain shifts into a battle-ready presence as the mountain appears (partially) in view in the right side of the panel view. SOUND EFFECT [Panel 3]: WHOOOMM! AVAIN [heroic scream; Panel 4] AVAIN [Cont., Panel 5]: I'm coming for you, Kagu--! Panel 6: Continuing on with the spirit of the previous three panels, we see the result of all that heroic action. Namely, the back of Avain just after crashing smack dab into the side of the mountain. The cracks stretching out on all sides as a result of the impact. His arms are also stretched out as a result of the crash (Tridentis on the left, the Trap Door on the right). He groans in pain.
