Ghede: Guerrier Extraordinaire #8: Pages 1-2
Page 1, 8 Panels- Nebulous Dark area between realms Panel 1-5: A four-part set of panels. Each one centered around the same setting and layout that we saw in the last panel of the previous page. The lone difference is that the background changes behind her. Not in the layout, but the presence of another. It starts with a simple Off-Panel "FWOOM!" in Panel 1. It's followed by the sight of the end of a fine silk robe as it glides into view from left to right in Panels 2 and 3. The movement stops in Panel 5, revealing part of a light blue robe with beams of yellow that stretch down from an unseen point above. As for our titular heroine, she remains relatively unconscious, only starting to come back from it in Panel 4 followed by a chuckle in Panel 5. KAGU-TSUCHI [translated from Japanese, Off-Panel; Panel 2]: I must say, you put up an admirable fight. A true credit to your kind. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont., equally boastful to Ghede; Panel 3]: But the end result was always destined to be this. KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont.; Panel 4]: Me...standing over your defeated frame... KAGU-TSUCHI [Cont; Panel 5]: Ready to "turn you into mist," as you so eloquently put it! Panel 6: Action shot showing our antagonist in the same full period-inspired garb that we saw in his first appearance in Issue 5. The difference is in the color of the robe as well as the yellow beams that were seen in passing in the previous panel. Their source emanating from a section of golden yellow around his chest area. His arms are extended outward and a beam of powerful energy shoots from his palms. Ghede glides expertly out of the blast view, grabbing her Molltach that lied next to her with her left hand. GHEDE [translated from Japanese; snarky]: Oh, gods... Panel 7: Cut to a profile shot of the Haitian guerrier seconds later. Her body already setting up in attack mode for a period, looking over at the Japanese water god with the same level of snark we saw in the previous panel. You can see her right hand reaching over to grab the bottom of the sword as she spoke. GHEDE [Cont., flashing a fanged grin to Kagu-Tsuchi]: Deluded much? Panel 8: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Her body is still framed in the same type of attack pose that we saw in Panel 7. The lone change is that Ghede's right hand has looped under the handle of her beautiful sword, whose blade hovers just to the left of her face. Also, her grin has faded toward one of pure, pain-extending business. GHEDE [Cont., half-complimentary]: On the plus side though, the robe's snazzy if not a little...bright for my taste! Page 2, 5 Panels- Nebulous Dark area between realms Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels, showing at first the little bit of distance between our two combatants along with the hole that was caused by Kagu-Tsuchi's powerful energy beams. In Panel 1, we see Ghede (on the right lower area of the panel view) charging full-speed toward the water god. She gains a little more air in Panel 2 with Minaj risen high over her shoulder, set to deliver a powerful slash at her enemy (who has done nothing to this point except place his hands to his side and calmly wait for his opponent). And in Panel 3, in a profile shot of the Japanese water god, we see her blade run clean through his unafraid frame. Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. We see the Haitian guerrier crouched on the ground in front of him. Her blade placed deep within the ground in the same position where Kagu-Tsuchi stood mere seconds before. As for the Japanese water god, he has dissipated into a cloud of mist above them. The only sound that can be heard is him laughing hysterically in the ether of the view. Panel 5: The laughter continues on in the air, though the layout cuts back to Ghede. She looks around with the first degree of confusion that we have witnessed from our heroine, trying to figure out where the true source of the laughing is originating from. GHEDE [translated from Haitian Creole; to herself]: What the...fuck?! KAGU-TSUCHI [translated from Japanese; Off-Panel, to Ghede]: Silly Shōjo
