The Boo-Ya! #5: Pages 23-24
Page 23, 4 Panels- TA Military Lab Station-62A, planet Jactan Panel 1: An all-white panel that occupies a sliver of the panel view, blotting out any type of setting from the reader. All we hear and see are the sound of a big "BOOOM!" and a shadow launched off her feet into the air. Panel 2-4: A three-part set of panels that connect toward a single particular setting somewhere in the laboratory at the same moment this all goes on. In particular, it's focused on a table where we see three oval-shaped bombs lined up in a row, surrounded by a screen of protective glass and a laser security system protecting it. Each bomb has a screen made of some type of red crystal at the center of the device. In Panel 3, in the foreground, you can see the corner of a remote laying on the table. SCIENTIST [Off-Panel, Panel 2]: "The Spear is the latest in pre-emptive military technolgy, top of the line compared to anything in the Alliance arsenal. Highly sophisticated triangulating tracking sensors, level 6 forcefield around each device, Simkannium powered self-sustaining battery." SCIENTIST [Cont. Off-Panel, Panel 3]: "You can beat even the most hardened of warrior planets with this baby. Once a part of the Spear is installed on or near the planet, you can use the remote to activate the mini black holes that proceed to suck the enemy up like little sh'letrs in a vac." MR. XJLIANG [Off-Panel, Panel 3]: "Why'd you need the other two devices if one can do the job?" SCIENTIST [Panel 3, Bubble 2]: "The other two are for when you need to take on something larger than an invading force--" MR. XJLIANG [interjecting; Panel 3, Bubble 2]: "Like planets?" SCIENTIST [Panel 3, Bubble 3]: "Theoretically...yes. You could use all three to create a chain reaction, though I'm not sure why one would need to." MR. XJLIANG [Panel 3, Bubble 3]: "My boss is going to go totally me..." MR. XJLIANG [Cont., Panel 4]: "I mean--the MP is going to be very pleased by this. Though there's something that my boss and the brass want to clear up before we send it out in the field." SCIENTIST [Off-Panel, Panel 4]: "Like what?" Page 24, 6 Panels- TA Military Lab Station-62A, planet Jactan Panel 1: Cut to a shot of the scientist standing on the other side of the display next to Xamaeleon, concealed in his cover as MP Aharons' Chief of Staff Mr. Xjliang. The taller government employee tilts his head slightly in the direction of the blue-haired, wrinkled man of science in a lab coat. A sea of pale white and gray can be seen behind them in the background, and the reflective glare of the Spear is seen in the foreground. MR. XJLIANG [to the Scientist]: There's the security on the base. Is it in shape, especially after all those robberies on stations throughout the Alliance the past two weatts? SCIENTIST [nods, to Mr. Xjliang]: Indeed, sir. Panel 2: Close-up on the scientist a second later, which properly showcase the indentations on the top of his nose and forehead more clearer than in the previous panel. It also highlights the eyes which are genuinely split between a light blue (at the top) and an emerald green (at the bottom). He points out with his dark blue hand, that juts out from one of the sleeves of his gray lab coat, toward the security display in front of them as he speaks. SCIENTIST [Cont., to Mr. Xjliang]: As you can see, it is more than sufficient to protect the Spear. We have a heat sensitive laser grid in the holding room, which you can see right now, as well as the pressure sensors implanted in the floor of the room. Panel 3: We cut to a close-up shot of Mr. Xjliang a couple of beats later. His arms are folded over the top of his gray suit, covering the red and black tie that he has been wearing all this time. He looks on at the scene and the scientist with a great deal of intrigue and professional curiosity connected with his real alter ego. MR. XJLIANG: And there's no way that someone can circumvent these security measures without being detected? Panel 4: Same setting/layout as Panel 2. The scientist flashes a half-smirk in great confidence at the government man's question. His hand is firmly back down to his side after pointing out what needed to be done earlier .You can even see, by the subtle movement of the heavy set person's chest, that he also lets out a quick laugh at it all. As was the case in Panel 2, you can also see part of Mr. Xjliang's frame on the right side of the panel view. SCIENTIST: Not unless they can suddenly become weightless or float in the air. Panel 5-6: A two-part set of panels centered back on Mr. Xjliang in a setting and layout that is similar to what we saw in Panel 3. He chuckles and flashes his own smile at the response, revealing to the reader the concealed Martian's razor sharp teeth. In Panel 6, a couple of moments later, his laughter is interrupted by the sound of his comm going off in the interior of his coat pocket. MR. XJLIANG [chuckle, Panel 4]: Good to know, Doctor... MR. XJLIANG [to the Scientist, holding his left hand and forefinger out; Panel 5]: One moment.
