James Brighton Society, Chapter 1: Pages 15-16
Page 15, 5 Panels- GV Jones' Parlor Room, Arlington Virginia Panel 1: Back to GV Jones in a setting and layout that is similar to what we saw in the second-to-last panel of the previous page. He nods at the underling, acknowledging the response positively. Though part of him is still looking for an extra connection of information on top of what he's heard. GV JONES [to the Underling]: Has word gone to the senior Senator from Nevada? Panel 2: Cut to a shot of the Underling's face, standing in the same position that he was in at the end of the previous page. You can see, even with the zoomed-in feature, that the setting is also similar to that point of Page 14. His eyes still are focused downward toward the floor as he speaks. UNDERLING [respectful, but with a degree of confidence]: Not quite yet, given the holiday. But I believe it will reach his door sometime by Christmas morning. GV JONES [Off-Panel]: Excellent... Panel 3-5: A three-part set of panels that start with the Grand Vizier with his back turned, moving up (with each preceding panel) toward the record player by the time we reach Panel 5. With each one, you can hear the sound of footsteps and classical music in Panels 3 and 4. And, in Panel 5, the door slams shut off-panel. GV JONES [Cont., to the Underling; Panel 3]: You can leave. UNDERLING [Off-Panel, Panel 3]: Thank you, sir. Page 16, 6 Panels- GV Jones' Quarters, JBS Heaquarters, Arlington Virginia Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels that follow the exalted Mr. Jones as he makes his way, by the time we reach Panel 3, to the record player on the other end of the hall. The music can be heard playing all the way through each panel as the door closes off in the background by the time we get to Panel 2. We also see him look out the window in Panel 3 as he takes the needle off the record, subsequently ending the rest of the concerto that had been playing on in the background of each of the three panels. Panel 4: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A few seconds later, we see Mr. Jones place the needle back in its copper holding without looking. His eyes continue to look out at the snow through the window, lost in his own train of thought at the moment. A content smile coming over his face. Panel 5-6: A two-part set of panels that center on the same setting and layout as the previous panel. In Panel 5, we see Jones reach over and grab a glass of brandy that had been sitting on the upstage side of the record player. His eyes still looking out at the snow, lost in his own train of thought. Which is disrupted only, in Panel 6, by the sound of a loud buzzer emanating from the top left corner of the panel. GV JONES [to himself, Panel 5]: Another part of the spell falls into place...the work of centuries ready to bear its sweet fruit. SOUND EFFECT [top left corner panel, Panel 6]: BUZZ! ASSISTANT [voice just below the sound effect, Panel 6]: The guests have arrived, Grand Vizier. GV JONES [looking up toward the speaker, to the Assistant; Panel 6]: On my way...
