The Boo-Ya! #6: Pages 23-25

Page 23, 6 Panels- Command Center, the Boo-Ya! Panel 1: Cut to a close-up of Ms. Cartwright a few moments later. She takes a step closer toward the railing that appears partially in the bottom of the panel view. There's a look of anxiety and great intimidation in her eyes and in her body language as she speaks. You can see, albeit blurred, a section of the console behind her in the background. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont., to the Madam; anxiously]: I'm good with compuers, Java, C++...Python...I'm okay in a fight (if it doesn't involve guns and takes place in a pub)...I can make a really mean Bara Brith with pineapples and-- Panel 2: We move to a shot of the good captain a second later, looking on at our human protagonist with mild curiosity at what she's saying. You can see the front of the command center behind her in the background, including the pilot's chair where Nessa has been seated all this time. You can also see a set of stars moving quickly by on the viewscreen. THE MADAM [interjecting with curiosity, to Robin]: The hells is Bara Brith? Panel 3: Same setting/layout as the first panel. Ms. Cartwright starts to loosen up slightly in regards to the question. She stands a few steps away from the railing at this point. Her body straightening out slightly in a sign of confidence in that part of the answer, though there's still a high degree of anxiety in her body language as she speaks. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [explanatory]: It's a type of bread that's made in Wales, the part of Earth I'm from. It's sort of like fruitcake, but...edible. And pretty much superior in every way. Panel 4: We cut back on the Madam in a setting and layout similar to what we saw in Panel 2. It's here that we see the good captain take in the explanation, pondering to herself over the human's usefulness. THE MADAM [pondering]: How good are you at flying? Panel 5: Back to Robin in the same setting and layout as Panels 1 and 3. She freezes for a moment, taken aback by the question while trying to come up with a suitable answer for the much larger woman. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [putting on a confident veneer, scratching the back of her head with her right hand]: Flying? Um...I'm competent at it. At least on Microsoft Flight Simulator, though I've never tried it with a proper plane... THE MADAM [Off-Panel, casually]: ...Eh, I can work with that. Panel 6: Cut to a shot of the Madam in a similar setting and layout to what we saw in Panels 2 and 4. She's seen already turning around and heading back to sit at her chair. Her left hand pointing in the direction of an open seat located next to Nessa at the front of the ship. The viewscreen behind the good captain showing more of the stars as the ship passes them by. THE MADAM [Cont., to Robin]: You'll take the co-pilot's chair next to Nessa till something else pops up to fit your...unique skill set. It shouldn't be too difficult for her, right Ness? Page 24, 5 Panels- Command Center/NATO's ETA Division, the Boo-Ya!/Brussels, Belgium Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Nessa in the pilot's chair with her head tilted over her shoulder in the direction of the Madam. She gives a subtle nod at her captain's question while her hands grip both sides of the steering wheel at the same time. You can see in the background toward the top right of the panel view Robin walking down toward the front of the ship. NESSA [confident smirk, to the Madam]: Sure, cap'n. As long as she doesn't crash it into a moon or press the shiny red button in the middle of your console, the meatbag should be fine. Panel 2: We move to a shot of Ms. Cartwright a few seconds later. She's stopped walking after a handful of steps and looks over toward Nessa and the Madam with a high degree of intrigue in her tone of voice. You can see another different section of the rear console behind her in the background. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [to the Madam and Nessa, injecting some humor]: "Shiny red button"...any relation to the Impossibility Drive? Panel 3-4: A two-part set of panels that are centered back on the Madam in a setting and layout that is similar to the end of the previous page. In Panel 3, she starts to make her way back to her chair that is seen behind her in the background. Her periphery directed to the left toward our human protagonist. In the next panel, the Killeman sits back in her comfy leather chair and looks over toward her pilot with the spirit of command firmly in her. THE MADAM [warning, to Robin; Panel 3]: I have no idea what you're talking about. But it does have a high chance either to rip the ship in half or destroy some nearby star systems...I could never find that part of the operator's manual. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [scared/surprised, Off-Panel; Panel 3]: Whoa, what--?! THE MADAM [to Nessa, Panel 4]: Full charge to Ervaht, Nessa... Panel 5: Cut back to the command center of NATO's ETA division. In particular, the same Intelligence section of the center where we were first introduced to our human heroine back in the first issue. There's not as many people there as at that time though, given that it's late at night Brussels time. You can see a woman from the left of the panel view walking toward that area. THE MADAM [Cont., caption]: And whatever fresh hells await us. Page 25, 6 Panels- NATO's ETA Division, Brussels Belgium Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Jess walking down a walkway toward the reader, dressed in uniform that hangs off her in a baggy fashion. There's a look of great sadness in her eyes. You can see part of the computer consoles on either side of her, occupied on the right side with another analyst finishing up their work on a separate assignment. Panel 2: Same setting as the previous panel. The layout changes to compensate as we follow the young woman a few steps further down. You can see the subordinate that was working in Panel 1 stand up behind her and start to leave at the same time. Panel 3-5: A three-part set of panels that starts with the same setting and layout as the previous panel. In Panel 3, a second later, her attention is pulled by the sound of her phone playing "Donna's Theme." In the next two panels, we see the young woman reach inside her pocket and pull out her phone by the time we hit Panel 5. It's here that we see a hologram of Robin (from the back) pop up from the screen, surprising Jess. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [to Jess, Panel 5]: Hey Jess, it's me. On a hologram (soooo fracking cool, I know!). Sorry for the shock on your phone, but I wanted to say--I'm in space right now (long story), which in itself is so amazing on so many levels. I don't know how long I'll be here, but I wanted to make sure you call my mum goodbye and (in case I don't come back)...I love you. I also love you 'cause--well, I wouldn't be alive without you behind me and...you're my best friend, and I--I'm rambling. Anyway, long story short, if the Commander or my family anyone asks where I am, just tell them... Panel 6: Cut to a close-up of Robin's mini-hologram emanating from out of the screen. The background behind her a mix of grays and blacks from the ground and the computer consoles nearby. Ms. Cartwright smiles with a sense of the coming adventure she's about to be involved in. ROBIN CARTWRIGHT [Cont.]: I'm in the Underside! END OF ISSUE 6
