James Brighton Society, Chapter 2: Pages 15-16

Page 15, 6 Panels- The former Steve Brennan's Apartment, Avalon Arms, Georgetown section of Washington D.C. Panel 1: Cut to an action shot of the good Detective walking away, her back to the reader, toward the hallway leading to Mr. Brennan's bedroom. You can see part of a closet door just in front of it, along with the door leading in to the bathroom. Panel 2-4: A three-part set of panels that follow the same type of action shot of Ms. Randolph, this time from the front all business as she nears the door to the bedroom. In Panel 2, she reaches into the interior pocket of her coat for something. In the next panel, she pulls out her notepad of paper with her right hand and, in Panel 4, flips it to an open unwritten portion. All the while, you can see in the background the two Mecha CSIs warm up and resume the final portion of their examination by the time we reach Panel 4. Panel 5: We move to a close-up of our heroine at the door a half-minute later. Tasha grabs the doorknob with her left hand and starts to open it carefully, set to see whatever is to come on the other side. In the background, you can see a little glow of red from the Mecha's iron eyes. Panel 6: Cut to a shot from a few steps inside the doorway a couple of beats later. With the door now fully opened, the good Detective pokes her head inside and has her first look at the missing man's bedroom. You can see part of the light blue and gray bedroom walls on both sides of the panel view near the door frame. DET. RANDOLPH [thought bubble]: Damn... Panel 1: A full-page sized panel showing the full display of the government worker's bedroom from Tasha's POV. Like the rest of his apartment, it's a very fancy and luxurious area which is of a higher station in life than a bureaucrat could afford. It's considerably damaged with holes littered throughout all four walls of the area, moreso than any other part of the apartment that we've seen thus far. The bedsheets are torn and sprinkled around the bed area. The mattress is upended and lying on the side of the bed frame near the chest of drawers that is tilted to the side due to a couple of legs being damaged. Each one highlighted by a circle and a ponderous caption comment, save for the first one, including a series of blood splotches all over the floor as well as near an upended floorboard hidden in the front of the bedframe. DET. RANDOLPH [Cont., Off-Panel]: Not bad for a pencil pusher! CAPTION [holes in the wall]: "Obvious signs of struggle..." CAPTION #2 [bedframe/mattress]: "Big enough to crack the mattress and flip it on its side? So far, nothing abnormal compared to the living room..." CAPTION #3 [the blood splotches]: "Okay, almost spoke too soon. Now for a weapon or..." DET. RANDOLPH [Bubble 2 Off-Panel, just below Caption #3]: A weird hole...
