James Brighton Society, Chapter 3: Pages 11-12
Page 11, 6 Panels- D2T2, Woodland area of Washington D.C.
Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels that centers back on Dolph standing in front of Ms. Randolph. In the first panel, we see her carefully take the piece of parchment from the young woman's hand. And, in the next pair of panels, we see her murmur certain words in her native Swedish as she reads.
DOLPH [To Det. Randolph, giving her the paper back; Panel 3]: Tian is busy with a client. But...the two of you may enter and wait for her to finish her work if you desire.
Panel 4: We move back to a shot of the good Detective and Grem, from the perspective of Dolph as she opens the door moments later. Tasha reaches out and grabs the edge of the page with her right hand. As she looks on with a slight quizzical gaze, we see the immortal Irishman start to walk up alongside her, ready to enter the home.
GREM [pleased, to Dolph]: Sounds great to me! DET. RANDOLPH [smells]: What's that smell? GREM [explanatory with a touch of a warning, to Det. Randolph; Bubble 2]: The smell of something you don't want to eat, or probably meet in a dark alley.
Panel 5-6: Cut to a side shot of the two of them talking with one another as they pass through the doorway in Panel 5 into the building by the time we reach Panel 6. You can see in the aforementioned Panel 6 what appears to be a sizable golem standing silently next to a display of totems.
GREM [Cont., Panel 5]: Three words- "Mongolian death worm." DET. RANDOLPH [curious to Grem; Panel 5]: Doesn't sound too bad... GREM [Panel 5, Bubble 2]: The worm is 2 meters tall and has blood sucking fangs... DET. RANDOLPH [sickened/little terrified, Panel 6]: Hah...forget what I said! GREM [nods, Panel 6]: Yep. Welcome to my world, Detective. 20% terrifying, and 80%...
Page 12, 5 Panels- D2T2, Woodland section of Washington D.C.
Panel 1: Cut to an interior shot of a massive 4-story structure that is considerably larger than the humble house that we saw in the previous page. It straddles the line between library and curio shop with all manner of magic practitioner (witches, sorcerers, etc.) and mythical creatures (griffins, goblins, demi-gods, fairies, etc.) that move from left to right and vice versa in varied levels of business.
GREM [Cont., Off-Panel]: Pretty damn awesome!
Panel 2: Action shot on the ground floor of Dolph moving at a very brisk speed for someone of her girth and speed five steps in front of our two protagonists. She looks back toward them, guiding them forward and to the right as she speaks.
DOLPH [to Grem and Det. Randolph]: This way, people. Snabbt, snabbt!
Panel 3-4: We move to an action shot of the two of them as they take a handful of steps inside, following the tall goblin toward their location. Grem looks on with the same level of business of someone who's been there many times before. His hand gently resting on the top flap of his messenger bag. Det. Randolph, meanwhile, takes in the weird sights going on all around including (in Panel 4) a baby lightning bird that buzzes past her head.
DET. RANDOLPH [leaps an inch off her feet in surprise]: Santa mierda!!
Panel 5: Slight close-up on Mr. Allen's face as he chuckles, watching the bird fly off from view behind them. A little spark of white can be seen in the top left corner of the panel view, illuminating the immortal Irishman's lovely face. In the background, you can see part of a dragon's skull on display behind him.
GREM [smiles, to Det. Randolph]: Those are the lightning birds. Cute little buggers...unless you're a dog or live near a radio station. I think they have a nest up in the ceiling of this place, if you want to see it after we deal with Tian. DET. RANDOLPH [Off-Panel, to Grem]: No, no. That's fine!
