James Brighton Society, Chapter 3: Pages 13-14
Page 13, 7 Panels- D2T2, Woodland section of Washington D.C.
Panel 1: Back to the Detective a couple of long moments later, still maintaining the stride as before. Her gaze though is pulled behind her in order to follow the bird as it flies away from view. You can see a little more of the ground level to D2T2, including the mini hallway where the four bathrooms (Male, Female, Flying, Non-Flying) are located. You can also see the lizard-bird skeleton of the Scalabaster faintly propped nearby.
DET. RANDOLPH [curious, to Grem]: ...Is there a point where you get used to dealing with this crap?
Panel 2: We shift back to Grem a second later, looking over in Ms. Randolph's direction as she turns her attention off-panel back in front of her. He has a calming, reassuring glint in his eyes as he speaks. The background behind him showing off a little more of the knick-knacks and pictures that make up the ground floor.
GREM [to Det. Randolph]: Not in the slightest-- but you're doing fine, Natasha! The last human I partnered with was about seven-eight years ago. Her name was...Katherine Hepburn, I think.
Panel 3-4: A two-part set of panels that center back on Tasha responding in the same ever changing setting and layout that we saw at the top of the page. In Panel 3, she lets out a surprised gasp at the name drop. Then, in the next panel, the Detective pops up with a question that comes to mind.
DET. RANDOLPH [smiling, Panel 3]: Wait, the--the movie star?! I love her! She's one of the few white people that doesn't annoy me to no end. Did... DET. RANDOLPH [to Grem, Panel 4]: Did you two ever have relations?
Panel 5-6: Back to Grem who chuckles at the hint in Panel 5, flashing a degree of a grin and a nod at the question. There's also a degree of fond remembrance and joy on his face as he recalls the story at that moment both here and going into Panel 6. The background changing in both panels, as it has before, toward the end of the hall where Tian is located.
GREM [to Det. Randolph, Panel 5]: Aye, for a little over a year. She needed a break from the hurly burly of Hollywood, and I was more than happy to oblige. Besides, there's no better way to relax (in my book) than fighting acolytes of Hades and rampaging monsters, not to mention sea snakes. There was nothing more intricate than that. GREM [Cont., shakes it off; Panel 6]: She's an absolute phoenix of a woman! Funny, smart, a quick learn with a sword and a magic book too. She's actually one of the premier sorcerers in the country as well as most of Europe. We're still friends, her squeeze Spencer too. We chat from time to time whenever I got a free hour or I'm in L.A. I'm actually supposed to meet the lovely couple sometime after the New Year...
Panel 7: Back to the good Detective a split second later. Her tone and attitude flattens out at that time when another theory pops into her head at that moment. The background behind her changes in the same steady left to right motion that we've seen through the entire page.
DET. RANDOLPH [looking to clarify]: You're not just saying this to get me in bed with you, are you?

Panel 1: We cut back to the immortal Irishman a few seconds later in decent (albeit slowing) tempo toward the witch's area. He flashes the good Detective a smile as he speaks with a tone of reassurance to her worries. He waves his hands in front of him in a dismissive fashion to hammer home the point of his words.
GREM [to Det. Randolph]: Nah, it's all true as the stars in the sky and certainly not a way to get in bed with me. Every member of the fairer sex I go to bed with do so by their own willing consent. You're no different. I can understand, though, how you came to such a presumption, given my look and the roguish glint in my eye.
Panel 2: Cut to Tasha a split second later, looking closer at Grem's eyes as she speaks. There's a playfully snarky tone in the words she says as she, like Grem, slows down her movement ever so slightly. As was also the case in the first as well as in the previous page, the background scenery of D2T2’s first floor changes, namely a formless Djinn moving from left to right toward the entrance holding a bag of souvenirs.
DET. RANDOLPH [to Grem, with some degree of sarcasm]: Is that what that is? I thought that was just dumb male bravado.
Panel 3-4: A two-part set of panels that centers back on Mr. Allen in the same setting and layout that we saw in the first panel of the page. In Panel 3, the inventor lets out another deep chuckle and a beaming smile, recognizing the joke being pulled his way. In the next panel, just a split second later, he is stopped the sound of a voice from off-panel right.
GREM [Panel 3]: Have I said how much I like you, Detective--as a compatriot, of course? DET. RANDOLPH [Off-Panel, Panel 3]: Hahahahaha.... DOLPH [Off-Panel, to Grem; Panel 4]: Mr. Allen…Detective Randolph—
Panel 5: Cut to a shot of Dolph standing next to an opened doorway a few steps away from our two heroes. She has her massive hands placed behind her back in a soldiery type fashion. The background behind her is gray with a touch of dark yellow, signifying the paint scheme of the area where the goblin's standing.
DOLPH [Cont., to Grem and the Detective]: Tian will see you.
Panel 6: We widen out to a shot showing a little more of the area moments later as Tasha and Grem make their way inside the room in front of Dolph. It looks similar to the door that would lead into a boss' office or any other inconspicuous room you'd see, save for the sight of a little stream of smoke coming out of the top of the doorway.
TIAN [Off-Panel caption, translated from Göbish]: Hmmm…the page is actually part of an ancient tome that I have not seen in over 300 years. Fascinating!
