James Brighton Society, Chapter 4: Pages 17-18
Page 17, 4 Panels- Diner, Washington D.C.
Panel 1-2: A two-part set of panels that moves toward the front entrance of the diner where the mecha thug gunman had stood. In Panel 1, you can see the longbow move toward the robot's unflinching face like a javelin. A few moments later, in Panel 2, it moves its left hand and calmly swats it down to the floor.
Panel 3: Cut to a shot of Natasha landing in an area of the floor between one of the tables and the countertop (which is partially visible in the left of the panel view). She looks out with a determined and angered demeanor, unphazed by the dismissive retort from the clockwork. In the background, you can see (much like the end of the previous page) other customers run away from the scene.
DET. RANDOLPH [determined]: Oh, you're not getting away that easy, you ugly bucket of bolts!
Panel 4: We tilt the layout more further toward the counter of the diner a couple of seconds later as Officer Reese emerges from the floor. He looks over in the direction of his friend and colleague. You can see his right arm sliding on the tile counter to the very top edge, preparing to leap off and chase after Ms. Randolph. In the background, you can hear the sound of footsteps coming from the good Detective's shoes as she runs after the suspect.
OFFICER REESE [yelling, to Det. Randolph]: Tasha, wait!
Page 18, 5 Panels- Outside the Diner, Washington D.C.
Panel 1: Action shot of Ms. Randolph heading out through the diner's front doorway, holding her long bow whose bottom can be seen trailing against the floor behind her as she makes the turn toward the sidewalk. The clockwork thug already six steps ahead of her at this point. It's part of a larger sequence that follows over most of the page.
Panel 2: Second part of the larger action shot a few seconds later. The layout has shifted slightly as the action moves further away from the diner in the background. You can see the gap between the two has shortened slightly as Officer Reese arrives into view in the doorway, looking toward them.
Panel 3-4: The layout zooms in slightly to take in squarely the Thug from earlier and Ms. Randolph as she nears the suspect. You can see her bent down to avoid the gunfire whizzing by her, little bits of metal pinging off the clockwork's back. Her bow is prepped to her side as she runs. In the next panel, we see the good Detective attempt a tackle as the footsteps from Officer Reese follow off-panel right.
Panel 5: Just as the robot's about to take off using the same type of rocket boot technology that we saw with the CW thug tangling against Grem, Tasha slams the creature hard onto the pavement. You can hear the sound of metal and concrete crashing into one another, while the footsteps stop suddenly.
