James Brighton Society, Chapter 6: Pages 9-10

Page 9, 5 Panels- Capt. Lennox's Office, D.C. Metro Police Precinct, Georgetown

Panel 1-2: Cut to a shot of the good Detective's face a couple of seconds later in a similar setting and layout to what we saw at the top of the previous page. The background is also similar to what we saw at that same moment. In Panel 1, she looks toward the sides at both of the Capitol officers. Then, in Panel 2, you can see her examining her boss, coming up with her response.

DET. RANDOLPH [reaching into her pocket as she stands up, to Capt. Lennox; Panel 2]: With all due respect, you seem to already know the answer. So I'll skip the formal chit-chat and say...

Panel 3: Action shot taken from the ceiling looking down showing Tasha tossing her police badge on the desk, lying with a thud on top of the photographs that we saw in part a few pages ago. You can see the top of Ms. Randolph's police hat to the right of the panel view.

DET. RANDOLPH [Cont.]: Dejé, cabrón!

Panel 4-5: We move to a two-part set of panels that follows the now former detective walking out of the room with a great deal of force, showing the Captain and the two nameless members of Capitol PD in the distance over the woman's left shoulder. In Panel 5, just as she's about to approach the door, you can see the human Capitol officer start to move as a result of the Captain's command.

HUMAN CAPITOL OFFICER [to Det. Randolph, Panel 5]: Hold it right there, beaner bitch!

Page 10, 6 Panels- Capt. Lennox's Office, D.C. Metro Police Precinct, Georgetown

Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. She stops in position just in front of the door, closing her eyes and waiting for the officer to come to her. As the man comes to her position, you can see the wheels of thought turning in Ms. Randolph's mind coming up with the next part of the plan.

HUMAN CAPITOL OFFICER [Cont.]: You're under arrest for armed robbery and assault of a police officer. You have the right to remain silent... DET. RANDOLPH [thought bubble, to herself]: Don't fight 'em, don't fight 'em, don't fight 'em...not in here! CAPT. LENNOX [Off-Panel]: What a shame, Tasha. But I guess the nay-sayers were right...

Panel 2: Cut to a close-up a second later of the Captain watching the scene unfold from his desk. Her badge can be seen lying in front him, tilted up in such a way that the glare from the ceiling lights hit it. There's a look of annoyance in his face as he reaches to grab the badge while he speaks. In the background of the audio, you can hear the clank of metal footsteps coming from the clockwork colleague moving to the same position for backup.

CAPT. LENNOX [Cont. to Det. Randolph, condescendingly]: Women aren't built for the rigors of police work...unless they marry a cop.

Panel 3: Same setting/layout as Panel 1, along with the same background as before. As the human officer approaches her, ready to slap a pair of handcuffs, Tasha opens her eyes once more; her mind thoroughly settled about what to do next. You can see her right hand moving to her side at that same moment.

DET. RANDOLPH [thought bubble]: Okay...fuck niceties!

Panel 4-6: A three-part set of panels that moves to a side shot of the office, following a series of action shots between the human Capitol officer and the now former Detective. In Panel 4, she goes into a spin to face the surprised man, pulling her billyclub out of its holster. In Panel 5, we see her now in front of the officer eye-to-eye with the now metal cane on trajectory for his head. Before he could react, in Panel 6, the cane cracks the side of his head, knocking him out.
