James Brighton Society, Chapter 6: Pages 13-14
Page 13, 5 Panels- D.C. Metro Police Precinct, Georgetown Panel 1: Cut to a shot of the IMP standing a distance away from the scene, watching with a blank look on his face as his suspect comes ever closer. The background behind him is a mix of black and gray, illuminated slightly by the lights burning off-panel above his metal head. You can hear, as he speaks, the sound of a click hidden amongst the hum of the gears to the grappling hook. IMP [Cont., to Tasha]: Submit and I promise the United States government will make sure you get sufficient representation at your trial. Panel 2-3: A two-part set of panels that centers on the same setting/layout as the previous panel. In Panel 2, everything looks normal as the mecha goes on to the next part of his pre-determined protocol. Suddenly, in Panel 3, the officer is felled by the blade from Tasha’s spear, cutting through the robot’s right eye.
TASHA [Off-Panel, to the IMP; Panel 2]: The same government that's interring Japanese citizens for "national security" reasons? Ha! Yeah... TASHA [Cont., Panel 3]: I'll pass! Panel 4: Cut to a shot of Ms. Randolph on her feet, standing a few steps away from the robot. Her feet are tightly together, and she watches as it tumbles to the ground on its back. There’s a sly grin on her face over what she had done, ignoring the sound of clumping footsteps from the humans coming her way. TASHA [thought bubble]: Thank you, whoever’s looking up at me! Panel 5: Close-up on her face a second later when she sees the other police officers off-panel and their weapons aimed squarely at her. The cocky, proud look that she displayed in the previous panel has been replaced by a look of “Ah, crap;” her body tensing up for the coming action. TASHA [Cont., thought bubble]: And by thank you, I mean… Page 14, 5 Panels- D.C. Metro Police Precinct, Georgetown
Panel 1: We move to a full-page shot from the sky looking down of the parking lot to the precinct over the course of minutes. You can see a lone figure (belonging to Tasha) running out of the building to the sidewalk, which is visible near the bottom of the page. Following behind her are the Capitol man and the Captain, along with a few others chasing after her in the same direction of the sidewalk where you can see the shadow from a public dirigible.
Panel 2: Action shot inside the page from ground level around the right side of the panel view, above some of the cars. It shows one of the officers' bullets buzzing over the top of Tasha's head, crashing into one of the windows of the cars near her.
Panel 3: Another action shot closer to the bottom, this time from the left of the page, inside the page taken from ground level. It has the same type of buzzing bullets that we saw in the previous panel, which miss her as she runs past. This time, hitting the side of the doors and other windows in a separate part of the lot.
GREM [caption]: The case is going well...
Panel 4-5: A two-part set of panels that follows the same rules as the other two panels. Each one moving ever closer to the sidewalk area. At first, in Panel 4, she appears to be set to escape the room to the waiting doors of the PT dirigible that appears to the right of the panel view. A split second later, in Panel 5 (firmly in the bottom area of the page under Panel 3), Tasha is wounded by one of the bullets in her right shoulder blade.
GREM [caption, Panel 4]: Natasha? She's good. Whip smart, and hasn't gone off the deep end with all the weird we've been through- both good pluses for associates, especially with all this JBS stuff. GREM [Cont. caption, Panel 5]: How's the Resistance treating you? MIRIAM [caption 2, Panel 5]: Perilous, old friend. But not without some really amazing moments.
