James Brighton Society, Chapter 7: Pages 1-2

Page 1, 6 Panels- Azeban's Domecile, Theodore Roosevelt Island, Washington D.C.

Panel 1: Cut to an exterior shot of Azeban's floating cabin currently located above Theodore Roosevelt island on the Potomac River. You can see the darkening blue of the late afternoon sky in the background, along with the tops of some of the buildings downtown around the lower end of the panel view.

AZEBAN [Off-Panel caption]: Welcome to la demeure humble...try to keep any body fluids away from either the floor or the portal openings. My helpers are not that verse at cleaning it up. TASHA [Off-Panel caption 2]: Whoa...what?

Panel 2: We move to an interior shot of the same area, showing the three of them walking inside the elegant lobby with its gold stair rails and beautiful artwork hanging on the walls in different parts of the panel view, some of which looks eerily similar to the interiors of landmarks all around the world. Tasha is seen looking on at someone crossing off-panel in front of her while Grem and Azeban chat next to each other.

TASHA [to Azeban, stunned]: You have...animals on staff? AZEBAN [chuckles, to Tasha]: Oh yes, humans too. Any poor sap that has the unfortunate luck to believe they can trick me. Or get something good out of me.

Panel 3-5: Cut to the shot of the group moments later as they ascend the staircase that was seen partially in the background, reaching the very top of it by Panel 5. Azeban is seen in the center of each panel's shot, with Grem to the right and Tasha to the left. You can see a little more of the beautiful castle-like architecture in the background as well as a few of the paintings, which resemble almost photographic-like representations of the Palace of Versailles and Mount Clemenceau in Canada.

AZEBAN [Cont., Panel 3]: I took pity on one though, H.G. Wells. Nice soul...for a human, at least. We collaborated on that War of the Worlds book he wrote. I also helped out Orson Welles with his radio adaptation. TASHA [surprised, Panel 3]: I read about that...that was you? AZEBAN [Panel 3, Bubble 2]: Aye...at least the panicky bits! I always chuckle whenever you mortals mindlessly panic. GREM [nods, to Tasha; Panel 3]: On top of her mechanical skills, Azzie's one of the funniest souls I've had the honor to meet. GREM [Cont., Panel 4]: Hell of a fighter, too...not better than me though! AZEBAN [interjecting casually, Panel 4]: My tail! You forgetting Newcastle in '15? I took you out in that pub-- GREM [Panel 4, Bubble 2]: With a lucky shot to the jaw! The cute brunette drew my attention away. AZEBAN [chuckling, playfully ribbing; Panel 5]: Right...keep telling you and your fragile Irish ego that.

Panel 6: We move to a close-up of Tasha's face a few moments later as the three of them take a turn to the left of the second floor and up the hallway. She looks down and over in Azeban's direction, looking to bring the conversation back to the immediate task at hand after the period of levity.

TASHA [to Azeban]: How do you keep this whole floating cabin of yours out of view the non-magical public? One would think it'd stick out like a sore thumb the moment the skies are clear. AZEBAN [Off-Panel, to Tasha]: Oh, young human, I've done this since the Nacotchtank called this place home.

Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels that moves to a shot at the end of the hall of the raccoon-like trickster god standing in front of a door. As she speaks to our two heroes, you can see her little paws moving up toward the roof (Panel 1) and then out toward the sides (Panel 2), which has the effect of expanding the door to a level that humans can walk through it.

AZEBAN [Cont. confident, Panel 1]: Maintaining concealment over lesser ape brains (no offense)... TASHA [Off-Panel, Panel 1]: I've heard worse! AZEBAN [Panel 1, Bubble 2]: Of that I have no doubt. AZEBAN [Cont., Panel 2]: Such a practice is as easy to me as breathing...or building a Casablanca-class Escort carrier. AZEBAN [to both of them, Panel 3]: Now, mes amies...

Panel 4: Action shot from inside the doorway, following the three of them as they walk inside the office a second later. The alignment is similar to the one that we saw at the beginning of the page, with Azeban at the middle and Grem and Tasha at each respective wing. You can see parts of the interior of her office to the sides on the walls, mainly tools and various kinds of chemicals and papers.

AZEBAN [Cont., businesslike]: What kind of IDs are you and your auburn haired compatriot do you want me to cook up? GREM [to Azeban]: The basic ones, Azzie. Driver's license, Social Security card...library card, if you can sklim it. It's all for that party I mentioned they're throwing New Year's Eve in their compound.

Panel 5: We move to a close-up shot of Tasha a moment later, following the trickster god as she moves off-panel toward her desk. You can see a little more of the office behind her in the background, showing the different types of tools and magical machinery that goes into Azeban's whole fake ID operation.

TASHA [following on Grem's train of thought, to Azeban]: Basically, it should be good enough to fool whatever guards or private ASMs the Society may have onsite. AZEBAN [Off-Panel]: That all?
