James Brighton Society, Chapter 7: Pages 23-24

Page 23, 6 Panels- Grem's Apartment, Washington D.C.

Panel 1: We move to a shot of Grem at the front door moments later, already halfway out of the apartment. He is seen looking over his shoulder toward Tasha to take in one last statement before he goes. In the background, you can see part of the hallway as well as the door across from him.

GREM [to Tasha, explanatory]: There's one on the wall of my lab. A gauntlet-like device with a triad of blades on top that can shoot out. TASHA [Off-Panel, to Grem]: You sure it can fit my wrist? GREM [Bubble 2]: It customizes itself to whoever's wearing it. You can find it to the right of the door just as you walk in, next to the Huills suit.

Panel 2: Back to Tasha a handful of seconds later in the same setting and layout that we saw at the end of the previous page. She's listening to the rest of his statement, while also looking over her shoulder in the direction that Grem is talking about.

GREM [Cont., Off-Panel caption]: It's not a magic weapon, per se...but it's a whole lotta fun to use!

Panel 3-4: Action shot taken from the side in Panel 3 of the former Detective walking across the hallway toward the location that the immortal Irishman pointed out. In the next panel, it moves to a slightly elevated shot of her opening the lab door.

GREM [Cont. caption, Panel 3]: It should also be useful in a pinch whether or not I'm back. GREM [Caption, Panel 4]: Though I do intend to be back.

Panel 5-6: We switch to a shot of Ms. Randolph from within the doorway to the lab. In Panel 5, she looks around toward the right of the panel view in search of the weapon Grem was talking about. A few beats pass by till, in Panel 6, Tasha notices the weapon in question.

TASHA [muttering to herself, Panel 5]: Gauntlet with three blades...gauntlet with three blades. How the hell is that even--? TASHA [pleasantly surprised, Panel 6]: Huh. There it is!

Panel 1-2: A two-part set of panels that moves toward the position in the lab that Grem talked about earlier. In Panel 1, Tasha has grabbed hold of the weapon with no name, a gold bracelet with three bayonet-like swords attached to the sides with hinges, and starts examining it with a mix of fascination and disbelief. In the next panel, a few beats later, her attention is drawn by the sound of Athena meowing off-panel. Her hand already starting to place the weapon back on its rack.

TASHA [Panel 1]: There must have been a lot of fingertips lost in the building of this. TASHA [Panel 1, Bubble 2]: Makes me shudder thinking about it. On the other hand, it would make a nice protein for... ATHENA [Off-Panel, Panel 2]: Meow!... TASHA [to Athena, Panel 2]: El gato... ATHENA [Off-Panel; Panel 2, Bubble 2]: Meoww! TASHA [Panel 2, Bubble 2]: Alright alright, I'm comin' Athena.

Panel 3-5: A three-part set of panels that moves action to the middle of the Atlantic and its blue skies peppered with shades of cloudy gray where a contingent of dirigibles have formed a line skyward, complimenting the Coast Guard ships on the sea. With each panel, you can see Gremlin's Emerald Isle move up to the sky border, reaching it by Panel 4 and passing through it without incident a few minutes later by the next panel.

TASHA [Caption, Panel 3]: Where the hell does he keep her food (which definitely better not be fingers)? SOUND EFFECT [from one of the dirigibles, Panel 5]: BEEP BEEP BEEP...
