James Brighton Society, Chapter 8: Pages 5-6

Page 5, 5 Panels- Mona's Laboratory, Jeddah Saudi Arabia

Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels that follows her a few moments later as Mona returns to the same examination area that we saw at the top of the page. Both of her hands in big gloves that firmly grip each side of the container, keeping it at chest level as it bubbles about in the first two panels at a steady pace as she pours it into the device seen on the bottom of the panel view. Then, in Panel 3, it suddenly releases a little burst of fire toward the ceiling.

MONA [to herself translated from Arabic, Panel 1]: And now for the thoroughly difficult part... MONA [Cont., hacking cough; Panel 2]: Smells like the Helabeast's arsehole. MONA [sighs, to Helabeast; Panel 3]: You know it does...!

Panel 4: Action shot of Ms. Ahmaddi moments later quickly making her way the final distance toward the examining table. A look of determination firmly planted on her face as a little plume of smoke starts to drift into view from the top right of the panel view.

Panel 5: We move a few moments later to the examining table as the enterprising genius places the container down on the edge of the metal table. In the background, to the top of the panel view, you can see more smoke gather at the same time that the sound of a metal "CLANG!" comes off-panel.

FATIMA [Off-Panel from the speakers, translated from Arabic]: There is a tiny Gremlin at the door for you, dearest. GREM [from the speakers, sarcastically]: Ha ha, that joke never gets old!

Panel 1: Cut to a shot a handful of seconds later in the living room (which is partially visible to the left of the panel). Grem is standing with his bag over his shoulder to the right of the panel, and FATIMA (in a nice looking dark blue abaya dress) is standing a few feet in front to the left of the panel view.

MONA [from a speaker dead in the top center of the panel view, translated from Arabic]: I'm on my way.

Panel 2-4: A three-part set of panels that centers on the same setting and layout as the previous panel. It starts with the two of them in a state of awkward pause before carrying on into a conversation that carries on through the remaining pair of panels, even with Mona's dialogue in Panel 4.

GREM [to FATIMA, Panel 3]: So...how are things? FATIMA [pleasant smile, to Grem in English; Panel 3]: Things are good. We are thinking of adding a third level to the domicile for armory storage and a room for more...carnal pleasures. GREM [Panel 3, Bubble 2]: Nice! Are you thinking of going BOTI, or using traditional contractors? 'Cause I know people who do both, though the former involves a considerable amount of old Gaelic magic and a pound of flour. FATIMA [Panel 3, Bubble 2]: I'd love to go the BOTI route. Unfortunately, we haven't discussed that yet. She wants to finish work on the Mini-Nova before we get into any talk about the house. GREM [Panel 4]: Really? She's been working on it for years. I always knew Mo had a stubborn streak (it's one of her great redeeming qualities). But I figured after awhile she'd put it to the side, like training that Helabeast of hers. FATIMA [shakes her head, Panel 4]: Absolutely not! The last time we attempted to do so, it took my arm and traveled halfway to Medina.
