James Brighton Society, Chapter 9: Pages 3-4

Page 3, 6 Panels- GV Jones Office, JBS Headquarters, Washington D.C.

Panel 1: Cut to a shot of the Grand Vizier in an action shot, forcefully walking around the desk to confront Mr. Stark for his previous accusation. There's a look of annoyance in his eyes as he speaks with roughly the same corrective tone of voice as a parent talking down to their child. You can see a section of the office behind him in the background that includes the lime green wallpaper as well as paintings and framed photographs from Mr. Jones' past.

GV JONES [scoffs, to Christopher]: My dear General, of course I have a bloody vendetta! He has been a meddlesome nuisance since you were swimming in your father's vas deferens.

Panel 2: We move to a close-up of Reginald's face a few moments later as he moves toward the General. The annoyance has now shifted toward reminiscence as he walks, looking to the left of the panel view for a moment. You can see the desk and some of the same office layout that was on display earlier.

GV JONES [Cont.]: That's why I want him to be here at Midnight- to be the very first soul I will cleanse from this filthy planet.

Panel 3-4: Back to the good General in the same setting and layout as the end of the previous page. He shakes his head at the statement, turning his body around to make a drink as he speaks. In Panel 4, a few moments later, Christopher turns around to face the Grand Vizier who speaks to him while he makes the drink.

CHRISTOPHER STARK [to Grand Vizier, Panel 3]: Okay, but it doesn't explain what the Irishman has to do with the master plan. GV JONES [Off-Panel, Panel 4]: Nothing, Christopher. He is simply a trophy to put on the mantle. CHRISTOPHER STARK [surprised; Panel 4]: "Trophy?" But how--?

Panel 5: Cut to a side shot of the Grand Vizier (standing to the left of the panel view) and Stark with his glass of whiskey (standing to the right of the panel view). Reginald reaches out with his upstage arm and places it on the General's shoulder as he speaks, now with a full level of calm in his voice. You can see the drinks cabinet along with the wall in the background that has a larger painting as well as more framed photographs of past exploits.

GV JONES [ominously]: Don't worry about the details. You will get your shiny new toy of your as well as your world in peace.

Panel 6: Action shot of Mr. Jones moments later, taken from within the doorway to his office as the esteemed leader exits the room. You can see Christopher looking on in the background over the Grand Vizier's left shoulder with a degree of begrudging acceptance in the situation.

GV JONES [Cont., with a pleased grin]: Now, if you go to the ballroom, you should be able to listen to the band's rehearsals. GV JONES [under his breath, Bubble 2]: Quando l'orologio colpisce secondo dodici E la bestia si alza Legami l'anima conosciuta come Stark Alla sua discesa alle ceneri CHRISTOPHER STARK [curious]: What was that? GV JONES [Bubble 3]: Nothing...just an old poem I read once.

Page 4, 6 Panels- Bedroom/Living Room, Grem's Apartment/Officer Reese's Apartment, Washington D.C.

Panel 1-3: A three-part set of panels that show the full scope of the top of the bed and the stuff that's on it, namely her dress, the magical ID she got from Azeban and Grem's gauntlet from the end of Chapter 7 as well as her metal cane rested next to it. Each panel focusing on a section of the bed with the stuff naturally bleeding from one panel into the next as if it were one single shot.

TASHA [narration caption, Panel 1]: I'd love to bring up my sister and her spy skills to help with this. But she has bigger fish to try, and...I don't have the time to get her up to speed. Hell, I have no idea about, like where the actual summoning is gonna take place (or when tonight for that matter). TASHA [Cont. narration caption, Panel 2]: Or how I'm gonna get inside once I do find it. TASHA [narration caption, focused on the cane and gauntlet; Panel 3]: I'm up for a fight, of course, regardless of whatever weapon they've got. And I know someone else with an equally courageous stance (or death wish, depending on the point of view) against the Society.

Panel 4: Cut to a shot of Ms. Randolph a few moments later, fashioning the gauntlet (with blades retracted inward) onto her right wrist. Her eyes look over to the left of the panel view in ponderous thought at the same moment. You can see a little display of the rest of the bedroom in the background, including the closet and some various furniture.

OFFICER REESE [Off-Panel caption]: About damn time you called, Tasha!

Panel 5-6: A two-part set of panels that act as a bit of a split screen. Tasha's seen in Panel 5 just outside of the bedroom, speaking into her personal comm. Reese is seen in Panel 6 standing in front of a chair in his living room, dressed in a smart looking dark black buttoned up shirt. You can see in Panel 6 a little bit of the modest looking wallpaper and furniture in the background, along with the window.

CAPTION [Panel 5]: Minutes Later OFFICER REESE [Cont., to Tasha; Panel 6]: I was beginning to think I was being relegated to the cheap seats. What took you so long anyway? TASHA [Panel 5]: Sorry, just...been bottled up in the case and Gremlin's weirdness, not to mention the Captain canin me and nearly getting killed OFFICER REESE [Panel 6, Bubble 2]: Oh yeah...right. Sorry for not backing you up when it happened. You know I would've backed you up against him, but I have bills and... TASHA [interjecting; Panel 5, Bubble 2]: I get it. Believe me, I--I completely understand the thinking. Now--do you own a suit?
