James Brighton Society, Chapter 9: Pages 11-12
Page 11, 5 Panels- JBS Headquarters, Alexandria Virginia, Evening
Panel 1: Cut to a profile shot of the JBS mansion just as the sun is starting to set. You can see a large collection of cars lined around the front of the area, along with the first of the rich and famous as they begin to file in to the party. You can also see a set of lights in the back of the mansion belonging to the help at that moment.
OFFICER REESE [caption]: Really? Three blades out of that tiny little bracelet?
Panel 2: We move to a shot from ground level of Tasha and Kyle driving to the location at the same time. She's behind the wheel of the car, wearing the dress that Azeban made her a few issues back, with Mr. Reese seated on the passenger seat feeling around the suit's lapels as she drives. You can see a little bit of the streets from both sides of the windows as she speaks.
OFFICER REESE Cont. shakes his head in disbelief]: How exactly is that even possible? TASHA [mild chuckle, to Officer Reese]: No idea. All I know is Gremlin built it and-- OFFICER REESE [Bubble 2]: You're calling him Gremlin now? TASHA [Bubble 2]: His idea, before he set off. That's what "his close friends call him."
Panel 3: Cut to a close-up on Kyle's face and body a moment later, looking over in Ms. Randolph's direction with a touch of concern in his eyes in regards to what's coming next. His hands are resting comfortably on his lap as you can see, from the passenger side window behind him, that the car is just about to come to a stop.
OFFICER REESE [jealous, to himself]: I still say it would've been nice if that Azeban lady--excuse me, "bipedal bad ass goddess"-- made some weapon for me and hid into the trouser legs or something.
Panel 4-5: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Taha in the same type of side shot that we shot with the good policeman in the previous panel. In Panel 4, she shakes her head as she presses down on the brake off-panel. You can see behind her the mecha guard approaching the window, tapping on it with its long metal fingers to "open the window." In Panel 5, a few moments later, the former Detective starts to wind down the window to greet the mecha guard whose hand has now disappeared to his side out of view of the reader.
TASHA [empathetic, Panel 4]: I know. But she made a fair point after making it-- any secret weapon would probably tip off that you're a cop and we'd both be SOL. TASHA [Cont. with confidence, Panel 5]: Don't worry though...we got Gremlin's gauntlet. So we should fine if we get into any trouble... TASHA [thought bubble, Panel 5]: Unless it explodes or breaks apart on the first punch against a Mecha. Then I'm kicking his Irish ass from beyond the grave!

Panel 1: Close-up on the mecha security guard, its Alexandria PD badge latched to the left of his chest, placed through the frame of the car window that was in the background of the previous page's last panel. Its red eyes glowing a slightly brighter red as it speaks. You can see a little bit of the commotion of the rest of the staff in the background as well as some people that pass by on their way to the Ball.
MECHA-GUARD [to Tasha and Officer Reese]: Identification, please...
Panel 2: We move to a shot of Tasha in the same kind of side shot that we saw at the end of Page 10. Tasha nods and reaches into her purse located next to her while keeping her left hand gripped on the steering wheel. You can see from the right of the panel view the front windshield along with part of a rear bumper from the car in front as well as the gate.
TASHA [nods with a heightened courtesy, to Mecha-Guard]: Of course, just...give me a second.
Panel 3-5: A three-part set of panels that widens the layout to taken in both Ms. Randolph and the good Officer seated in the passenger seat. They anxiously wait as the robot examines the magic ID carefully, manifested only in the form of electronic sounds that float in from off-panel right till Panel 5.
MECHA-GUARD [Off-Panel, Panel 5]: Okay, Ms. Andres...you are on the list. Now, to your boy companion...
Panel 6: Cut to a close-up on Kyle a couple of beats later, reaching into his wallet while looking at the mecha with bottled up disdain; a feeling that, you can see in his eyes, he has a great deal of experience in delivering. You can see the other half of the same rear bumper from the previous panel from his side of the front windshield.
OFFICER REESE [to the Mecha-Guard]: Yes, sir... OFFICER REESE [thought bubble]: Note to self- kick his hollow ass last.
