James Brighton Society, Chapter 9: Pages 15-16

Page 15, 5 Panels- Ballroom, JBS Headquarters, Alexandria Virginia

Panel 1: Action shot of the Mecha-guard (RY-3E), the same one we saw at the end of the previous page, and the Grand Vizier walking next to each other toward the entrance of the ballroom for privacy purposes. He is visibly not in a good mood, listening to the robot speak. You can see a section of the crowd and the band behind them in the background as the scene takes place.

GV JONES [Cont. perturbed, to RY-3E]: What is it? RY-3E [to GV Jones]: There's been a development out front that I believe you should be made aware of. GV JONES [Bubble 2]: Yes...

Panel 2: Cut to a close-up of RY-3E a moment later, stopping the movement from earlier and handing the medium-sized TD (or Trans-Dimensional)-Scan device off-panel to the right. His ovular silver metallic head tilts in correspondence to the movement from his arms.

RY-3E: Ten minutes ago, we received something from one of the guests. A Miss...Catalina Andres. GV JONES [Off-Panel]: And I should know this...why? RY-3E [Bubble 2]: Because of this.

Panel 3: We shift slightly to Mr. Jones standing a few steps in front of the Mecha. He has the device firmly locked in both hands, reading over the data while keeping an eye on RY-3E to address him properly. You can see a bit of the wall behind him in the background, along with an upper part of the ballroom near the doorway.

RY-3E [Cont., Off-Panel]: I think Ms. Andres is actually Natasha Randolph in disguise. GV JONES [in thought]: The Detective (or former Detective)? Hmm...fascinating. The TD readings are almost similar to what we found spotting Allen's absurd little ship yesterday. GV JONES [Bubble 2]: Did you allow the woman entrance?

Panel 4: Same setting/layout as Panel 2. The robot nods affirmatively at the assumption, returning his arms down to his sides. The background behind the Mecha is similar also to the one we saw in the previous panel, just showing the other side of the same area that was behind the Grand Vizier.

RY-3E: Yes, sir, Grand Vizier. I know I should have detained her. But she was technically on the guest list, along with her Negro companion.

Panel 5: Back to the Grand Vizier in the same setting and layout as Panel 3. His head is tilted down in the same manner that we saw in that panel. There isn't any dialogue here, save for the sound of audible groaning emanating from the man's mouth, which seem to trigger the beginning of a verbal explosion to come.

Page 16, 6 Panels- Ballroom/2nd Floor Hallway, JBS Headquarters, Arlington Virginia

Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. You can see the anger that was set to explode then be contained in the eyes of the JBS leader as he bursts forth his commands to the mechanical underling. The action of the scene continuing to change in the background.

GV JONES [to RY-3E]: Okay. Find the woman and her boy and detain them immediately, preferably quietly and discreetly.

Panel 2: Back to the Mecha-guard a beat later in the same setting and layout as Panel 4 of the previous page. The robots nods in a quick affirmative fashion to the command. Its red eyes wide and in attention, waiting to hear what comes next.

RY-3E [to GV Jones]: Yes, sir, Grand Vizier. And what if they offer resistance?

Panel 3: Back to Mr. Jones in the same setting and layout as the top of the page. Though he addresses the Mecha guards, his eyes are already looking off to the left of the panel view and the party that he is eager to return to at that point.

GV JONES [dismissive, but firm]: One simple word, Ry-3E- exterminate...

Panel 4-6: Cut to a separate hallway on the second floor of the compound a distance from the ballroom as this had all taken place. We see Tasha carefully looking over the area as she walks, checking out a different area that is highlighted in Panels 4 and 5. In Panel 6, as she's about to check out a door a few steps from where she stands, the former Detective is slightly startled by the sound of someone talking to her.

GV JONES [Cont., Panel 4]: With extreme prejudice. PARTYGOER [Off-Panel, to Tasha; Panel 6]: Hello, gorgeous...
