Jones St., Chapter 2: Pages 3-4
Page 3, 5 Panels- EPB Bookstore, Las Vegas
Panel 1: We move to a shot of the front door where a mailman, ANTONIO, comes inside holding a big bag of mail slooped in a bag over his right shoulder. You can see his mail truck with the USPS logo on the side parked outside on the curb through the window. You can also see a table of books placed on the interior end of the window toward the foreground.
TARA [narration caption]: I'll leave that for another day.
Panel 2: Back to the cashier's desk moments later. Tara looks up and notices him coming his way, flashing him a friendly smile as he slips the zip drive back into the pocket of his unseen trousers. Meanwhile, you can see the mailman reaching into his bag and pulling out the necessary mail.
TARA [to Antonio]: Morning, Mr. Reyes... ANTONIO [equally pleasant, to Tara]: Morning, Tara...muy snazzy vest today! TARA [Bubble 2]: It's the same one I usually wear...but thank you though. What's the mail today?
Panel 3: Cut to a profile shot of the mailman a few beats later, holding a stack of mail in his right hand and moving to place it on the front desk that is visible in the bottom of the panel view. You can see the action of the store behind her in the background, along with the various shelves and displays filled with books.
ANTONIO [casual]: The usual stuff for your father. Any new girls you're interested in?
Panel 4: Back to Tara in the same setting and layout as Panel 2. He grabs the stack of letters an bills in both hands, looking over in Antonio's direction with a casual yet dismissive shake of his head. You can see in his body language that it's something that he's heard many times before in the past.
TARA: Not since the last time you asked, Mr. Reyes.
Panel 5: We move to the mailman a few moments later with his arms down to his side; the setting and layout behind him is similar to what we saw in Panel 3. He shrugs at the statement and gives an optimistic half-grin, turning his body to the right as if about to head back to his truck.
ANTONIO [optimistic]: Sad to hear it, my lad. But the right girl will come one day...just gotta keep at it. TARA [Off-Panel]: I know, I know. TARA [narration caption]: I hear it a lot, even though I've told him that I'm Asexual. For him, he usually hears the "Hetero" part before I get to the "Asexual" part, which is fine because he's been the regular mailman at the store since I was a kid.

Panel 1: Action shot of Mr. Myers sorting through the mail into two separate piles after the mailman Antonio has began to walk away from the scene. He's already back in his own head as he goes through the action, ignoring the customers as they linger and look around the modest-sized store.
TARA [narration caption]: Also, it's not that I disagree with the gist of what he's trying to say. At my core, I'm a romantic. I'd love to meet a woman who accepts the full weird, socially horrible and sweet stew that makes up me.
Panel 2: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. Tara notices the customer (who appears in shadow in front of him) coming toward the front desk, and places the mail in a shelf underneath the desk at the moment. His body already preparing, along with his mind, the proper procedures that comes with customer interaction.
TARA [Cont. narration caption]: I was close once, but...rather not talk about that one now. Outside of that though, I just have shite luck. Or shite timing, both sound about right. No need to feel sorry about me though. TARA [to the Customer]: Is that all for you?
Panel 3: Cut to the interior of an office a half-hour later. It's focused squarely on the doorway with Tara coming inside, holding both piles of mail that he sorted out earlier in the page. You can see a section of the store outside through the doorway in the background, though not a great deal in terms of the reader.
TARA [narration caption]: I find my fun where I can.
Panel 4: We move to a shot of Tara's father, Randall, seated at his desk. A man in his mid 50s with a light blue long sleeved dress shirt on, he looks up from his documents noticing his son come into the room. You can see part of a keyboard and a computer monitor around the right side of the panel view, along with a framed photo of his late wife Tamara in her younger years wearing a David Bowie tour T-Shirt. You can also see in a foggy thought bubble some type of alien heroine onboard a star ship hovering over his right shoulder.
RANDALL [to Tara]: Hey son...anything interesting?
Panel 5: We move to a side shot of Tara a few moments later placing the first pile of mail in his right hand down on the desk while the other one is to his side. You can see a little more of the office in the background, including various framed photos and artwork as well as a framed UNLV football jersey in the center left part of the wall.
TARA [shakes his head, to Randall]: Just bills and a big bunch of coups. Also a brochure for the Lit Crawl on Saturday.
Panel 6: Back to Randall in the same setting and layout as Panel 4 a few moments later. He's opened up one of the envelopes, and is looking over the document as he speaks. You can see, in the thought bubble, an epic battle taking place between the alien heroine and a contingent of government soldiers in black and red armor.
RANDALL [remembering]: Oh yes yes...You thinking of going?
