Jones St., Chapter 2: Pages 7-8

Page 7, 5 Panels- EPB Bookstore, Las Vegas

Panel 1: Cut back to Tara in the same setting and layout as the middle of the previous page. He notices the woman, placing his notebook with the pen placed where he had left off. His body standing and already moving toward the edge of the desk as he speaks.

TARA [to the Woman]: Alrighty then, miss. Just give me one moment...

Panel 2: We move to a few moments later with a shot of the two of them heading back toward the nonfiction area of the store. Tara to the left of the panel, and the young woman to the right alongside him. You can see parts of the front desk in the background along with walls and the high ceiling as well as part of the doors which begin to show the first signs of approaching darkness.

TARA [Cont.]: What can I do for you? WOMAN [to Tara]: I'm doing a paper for Poli Sci on the evolution of feminism. I was wondering if you had any books on the subject. TARA [Bubble 2]: Indeed we do. Did you try the Campus Bookstore? WOMAN [Bubble 2]: Yeah, but they didn't have the kind of authors I was looking for.

Panel 3: Cut to a close-up on Mr. Myers' face a second later. He glances over with a curious look on his face, raising his eyebrow as he speaks. You can see the window display behind him in the background, along with a little snapshot of the sidewalk in front and the street in the distance illuminated by street lights.

TARA [slight chuckle]: That was my experience the last time I was in there. What era were you thinking of focusing on?

Panel 4-5: Back to the Woman on the other side of the line. As we saw with Tara, she's stopped and looks down toward her pants. Her left hand reaching into her pocket to pull something out, which we see in Panel 5 in the form of an iPhone with a phone case of General Leia Organa. She quickly scrolls through the screen, looking for the page in question. You can see rows of books in the background, along with other doors to the employee lounge and boss' office.

WOMAN [Panel 4]: Early to middle 20th century. I made a list of authors I was hoping to cite last night when Prof. Belcher made the assignment. WOMAN [Cont., Panel 5]: It should be synced up to my phone...

Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page, along with the same background as before. A few moments later, the Woman stops scrolling upon discovering the page in question. She looks up from the screen at the same time toward Tara as she speaks.

WOMAN [pleased]: Got it! Here...

Panel 2-4: Cut to a shot from the view of the screen looking up as Tara (from the left of the panel view) glances at the list in question. The layout of the view focuses squarely on our faces with the phone providing a faint glow around their lower chin region. Things are mostly still in terms of action till we get to Panel 4 when Tara recognizes what to do next.

TARA [to the Woman, Panel 3]: Good list, for the most part... WOMAN [to Tara, glancing at the nametag; Panel 3]: Thanks...Tara? WOMAN [Cont. curious, Panel 4]: Weird name for a guy. Where'd you get a name like--? TARA [interjecting, Panel 4]: We can definitely help you with some of the names on the list.

Panel 5: Action shot with a slight elevation compared to the previous panel, showing him going back to the front desk area to grab a step stool from underneath the area. He looks over toward the young woman to explain the situation as he moves.

TARA [Cont.]: I organized the Nonfiction section by author rather than title. So it should be easy to do it that way since-- WOMAN [Off-Panel]: You did all of that by yourself? TARA [Bubble 2]: Mmm-hmm. I picked it up at the West Las Vegas Library...thought it would be more efficient that way to remember the author and let the person's memory pick up the rest from there.
