Jones St., Chapter 3: Pages 3-4
Page 3, 5 Panels- Melanie's Apartment, Las Vegas NV
Panel 1: Same setting/layout as the last panel of the previous page. The refrigerator door is now closed, and we see Cassie holding a 3/4-full jug of milk in her right hand; her gaze now fully in the direction of her friend at this point in time.
CASSIE [Cont. knowing, to Melanie]: That horrible, huh? MELANIE [Off-Panel]: Yep! CASSIE [Bubble 2]: What happened?
Panel 2-3: Cut to Melanie seated on the couch in front of her computer; her eyes are focused squarely on the screen, typing away as she speaks. You can see Cassie in the background of both shots fixing together the individual pieces to a bowl of cereal at this same moment.
MELANIE [to Cassie; Panel 2]: It started awkward, like any other date. Then it shifted to horrible when he mentioned how much of a thing he had for Gina Torres when he was a kid. CASSIE [not seeing the point, Panel 2]: I thought that would've been a plus. MELANIE [Panel 3]: Normally, right up to the moment he looked at my ass and said..."close enough." CASSIE [surprised and sickened, Panel 3]: Oh wow, that's...that's nauseangrying!
Panel 4: Action shot of Cassie at the table, pouring a bowl of milk and Frosted Flakes out for breakfast; the surprise and disgust shifting toward one of curiosity. There's an inquisitive look on her face as she speaks, seeking a little more information to settle her mental query.
CASSIE [Cont.]: Tell me you booted the guy square in his little berries.
Panel 5: Back to Melanie in the same setting and layout as Panel 3. She chuckles and shakes her head, leaning back against the cushion of the couch after finishing typing a few moments later. You can see Cassie walking across from left to right in the background, placing the cereal back in the cabinet, listening to her friend as she speaks.
MELANIE: Oh, I dreamt about it through the drinks and late dinner over at Payne's. But I held back and tried to play it cool going into Sif's, mainly 'cause I wanted to see you play and I wasn't in the mood to deal with cops. Then he badmouthed your band and...cool went out the door! CASSIE [Off-Panel]: Threw punches? MELANIE [Bubble 2]: No, just a regular verbal beatdown...just as satisfying though!

Panel 1: We move back to Cassie at the table pouring the milk into the full bowl of cereal. She's looking over in her friend's direction, chuckling in regards to the comment with a wide smile on her face as she speaks. The background behind her is similar to what we saw in Panel 4 of the previous page.
CASSIE [to Melanie, apologetically]: Sorry your date went to shit, budette. In my defense, he seemed far less douchey when I met him.
Panel 2-3: Cut to a shot of Melanie's back after turning around to continue her work once more; the sound of typing heard underneath what she says when it comes to Panel 2. In Panel 3, it's interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing off-panel right. All the while, in both panels, you can see the TV playing the news to little care to avail when it comes to our characters.
MELANIE [witty, to Cassie; Panel 2]: Most men are, I've found. Till they open their mouths. CASSIE [Off-Panel, Panel 2]: Yeah...Outside of Henry. MELANIE [Panel 2, Bubble 2]: Yeah...exception that proves the rule! SOUND EFFECT [Off-Panel, Panel 3]: RIINNNG!!
Panel 4: We move to a shot of Melanie a short time later, from the front this time, picking up the phone that happened to be laying on the farther left edge of the couch. The screen is facing up toward her eyes as she looks down to see who's calling her; her right pointer finger already beginning to slide on the screen to answer it.
MELANIE [excited]: Nice...!
Panel 5-6: A two-part set of panels that take place on the same setting and layout as the previous one. In Panel 5, Melanie has the phone pressed against her right ear, listening and reacting to the conversation that is taking place on the other end (which we as the reader do not get a chance to listen to). It continues on into the next panel while her friend watches on in between the sound of cereal crunching off-panel that pops up in the upper left corner of each panel.
MELANIE [Panel 5]: Hello?...Speaking, yeah...Mr. Crosby, from the Tech Expo at the Luxor, yeah yeah! I remember. You were gonna call if you had a job in line at your firm. MELANIE [slightly dejected; Panel 5, Bubble 2]: Oh...F--Freelance is fine. How much does it pay? Hmm...Okay, for a week's work, I--I can live with that... MELANIE [Panel 6]: Hmm...I can do 1 o'clock today, to discuss it a little further...
