Page 11, 6 Panels- MadHouse Coffee/EPB Bookstore, W. Desert Inn Road/Jones St., Las Vegas NV
Panel 1-2: A two-part set of panels that both focus on the same type of close-up on Mr. Myers face after answering the phone. In Panel 1, he's very cordial and happy in regards to the new writing job. Then in Panel 2, it shifts slightly as Tara hears the new news coming from his father on the other end.
TARA [into the phone, to Randall; Panel 1]: Hey Dad. I just got out of the interview...Yeah, I got it. I'm their new book reviewer...Yeah, yeah. It's a biweekly newspaper...It's a telecommuting job, so it shouldn't be a problem staying on with the store. I can write 'em up after closing...Yeah, I'm--I'm pretty psyched too...Should be back at the store in 20 minutes, I think... TARA [Cont., Panel 2]: Deliver an order? I didn't know we did that...Ah, cool cool. Who's it for?...Ah. Couldn't you just send it into the post office?...Oh right right, that thing with the tax guy you're going to...No problem then, I can send it out to the post office once I get back to the store.
Panel 3: Cut to a shot of the interior of the bookstore minutes later, which is not that populated at this time of day; the glass doors have been swung open and we see Tara come back in. His face and the rest of his body language still exudes the same type of energy and excitement that we saw from him over the past couple of pages. You can see the street behind him in the background along with a few cars moving in both directions, illuminated by the late afternoon sun.
TARA [caption from earlier]: "On the counter...got it! See ya soon."
Panel 4: We move to a shot of the front counter where the book is visible in the middle of the desk, along with a couple of notebooks, six inches from the cash register which is visible to the right of the area. As for Tara himself, he's only seen from the side to the left moving ever closer to pick it up and the empty USPS package next to it as well as a cup of pens and pencils nearest the cash register.
Panel 5-6: A two-part set of panels that focuses on a slight close-up of Mr. Myers moments later, holding the book up at chest level and looking down at its cover with a sense of pleasant reminiscence in regards to the special meaning behind it. In Panel 6, a few seconds later, Tara places the book back on the counter and reaches over to grab one of the pencils.
TARA [to himself, Panel 5]: Viv Albertine...Mom was a huge fan of the Slits. TARA [Cont., Panel 6]: Whoever's got this has excellent taste!
Page 12, 5 Panels- Melanie's Apartment, Las Vegas NV
Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Melanie at her kitchen table, deep in work on the coding for Mr. Crosby; a series of papers scattered just in front of her laptop with her phone rested on the edge of them. She's clearly weary by the constant stream of typing, though still in a good spirit. You can see the window behind her in the background along with the late afternoon sun peaking through as she works.
CAPTION: One Hour Later CASSIE [Off-Panel]: Hey budette!
Panel 2: Action shot of Cassie coming through the front door in her work uniform after a hard day at work; the dark shade of the hallway outside visible in the background. She looks over in the direction of the kitchen, touching the doorknob behind her a split second before it begins to close.
CASSIE [Cont. happy, to Melanie]: Looks like the interview went really well...unless I just caught you in the fan-fic hole you dive into whenever you're feeling sad. Like when we saw Batman v. Superman.
Panel 3: Back to Ms. Haynes in the same setting and layout as the first panel. She chuckles and shaking her head in disagreement to the statement. Her fingers still quickly typing away at the code as she speaks.
MELANIE [to Cassie]: Nah, just a large pool of code from Crosby. And I wouldn't call "The Watcher fixes the DC Cinematic Universe" sad. It's--relaxing!
Panel 4-5: A two-part set of panels that moves back to Cassie a couple of beats later. In Panel 4, we see her take her black purse and toss it casually onto the couch that is visible to the right of the panel view. Then in Panel 5, she turns her body over to the hallway where the bathroom happens to be.
CASSIE [taking her word for it, Panel 4]: Whatever... CASSIE [Cont., Panel 5]: I'm gonna hop in the shower, get the smell of perverted old men off me.
