Page 1, 5 Panels- Tara's Bedroom, Jones St., Las Vegas NV
Panel 1: We open on Tara leaning up against the wall, using the pillow as a back support; the computer resting comfortably on his lap. He has the fingertips of both of his hands hovering just above, looking at the work that he had done since we last saw him near the end of the previous chapter. To the left of the panel view is the chat screen between Tara and Chase that has happened along that time too.
CHASE [in gray balloon]: How was your day? TARA [in blue balloon]: Not too shabby. I got a writing job yesterday... CHASE [gray balloon 2]: Awesome, dude! Who's it with? TARA [blue balloon 2]: Clark County Sound. I'm their new Book Critic. CHASE [gray balloon 3]: Sounds awesome! What's the Clark County Sound?
Panel 2-4: A three-part set of panels that focuses on the same setting and layout as the previous panel. In Panel 2, a few beats later, he detaches the zip drive from his laptop with a smile on his face. Then in Panel 3, he grabs the remote and changes the channel on his TV. A few beats later, in Panel 4, Tara's attention moves back toward the laptop, proceeding to surf around or a little bit as Rick & Morty plays on off-panel. In each panel, you can see the same chat screen occupy the left area, continuing in the action from Panel 1 and the other three in a continuous conversation.
TARA [blue balloon, Panel 2]: It's a small bi-weekly newspaper here in town. They've been going on for a little over a year. CHASE [gray balloon, Panel 2]: How much does it pay? TARA [blue balloon, Panel 3]: $25 per review, so $50 a month. CHASE [gray balloon, Panel 3]: Not great, buddy. But...it's a pretty good start. TARA [blue balloon 2, Panel 3]: True. Besides, I still have the bookstore. CHASE [gray balloon, Panel 4]: How is the old place anyway? Still holding up? TARA [blue balloon, Panel 4]: About as much as bookstores do in the age of streaming and E-Readers. CHASE [gray balloon 2, Panel 4]: Don't tell me you're going Luddite on me, T!
Panel 5: Same setting/layout as the previous panel. A minute later, after searching, he comes across something that catches his attention for a brief bit. His eyes quickly scanning the page silently with a degree of intrigue that permeates his face. As has been the case with the rest of the page, you can see the chat window coming to a close to the left of the panel view.
TARA [blue balloon]: Not at all! Just stating a basic truth of life. Like chewing taffy feels weird, or earbud headphones always find a way of slipping out, no matter how deep you get 'em in. CHASE [gray balloon]: On the flip side- people love nostalgic looking things against technology. Paper notebooks, pens, pencils. Hell, even LPs are making a comeback, albeit with nerds and the pretentious. TARA [blue balloon 2]: I know. That's why I'm not nervous EPB will ever close. TARA [blue balloon 3]: So, what do you got planned for Easter? CHASE [gray balloon 2]: Usual family stuff, watch little Beth hunt for Easter eggs. You?
Page 2, 6 Panels- Randall's Car, Jones St., Las Vegas NV
Panel 1: Cut to a shot of the back of Randall's Kia the following Easter morning. You can see the elder Myers in the drivers' seat, looking behind him as he puts the car into reverse to set off for brunch, and Tara in the passenger seat glancing down at something unseen. The foreground of the shot, along with the sides of the panel view, shows open parking spaces as well as the blacktop in the Spring Vegas sun.
TARA [caption in similar blue balloon as Page 1]: The same...without the Easter eggs, obviously.
Panel 2: We move to a side shot from inside the car a few minutes later. Randall looks over in his periphery, noticing his son looking down at his phone playing something as the two of them drive along to their destination.
RANDALL [to Tara]: You get enough crystals yet?
Panel 3-4: A two-part set of panels that zooms in on the young Mr. Myers playing along a moment later; his eyes focused on the action as he speaks, which is visible in bits and pieces in both panels from the phone's screen. You can see the street from outside of the passenger side window moving fast from right to left in the background. In Panel 4, he becomes agitated at the sound of the E-Mail notification bell that disrupts the game.
TARA [focused, to Randall; Panel 3]: Not yet. But I should be close, just need to take out this boss and...
Panel 5: Cut to a similar side shot of Randall glancing over in the direction of his son with a bit of concern as the growl reaches its peak along with the words "ANGRY BRAIN SIZZLE" coming from Tara next to him. As was the case in Panels 3 and 4, the road behind him visible through the driver's side window moves from left to right in the same speed.
RANDALL [calming]: Deep breaths buddy...Pop-up ad again, or E-Mail?
Panel 6: Back to Tara in the same setting and layout as Panel 4. He quickly shakes his head, scrolling through the E-Mail which is visible via the screen that is placed around the same position as before.
TARA [trying to rev himself back down]: Ill timed E-Mail.
