Jones St., Chapter 6: Pages 3-4
Page 3, 4 Panels- EPB Bookstore, Jones St., Las Vegas NV
Panel 1: As this all has gone on, we move to Tara's face at the EPB Bookstore. He looks up to the ceiling with a high degree of anxiety that is visible at this point; his mind trying to calm down it and the rest of his body. In the background, you can see a blurry tapestry of books on the shelves in the distance.
JAYSON [Cont. Off-Panel]: Or if this Tara guy ends up being a spaz!
Panel 2-4: A three-part set of panels that starts out in the same setting as the previous panel. The layout widens out slightly, taking in more of the young Myers to his shoulders; his face is clearly in the throes of an anxious flurry. A flurry that filters on through the other two panels, occupied only by the whistling of "Hail Doofania" as well as the click of the zip drive. To the upper left of each of the three panels, you can see his energy bar (Panel 2- 72%, Panel 3- 52%, Panel 4- 70%).
RANDALL [to Tara, Off-Panel; Panel 4]: You're gonna be okay, son...

Panel 1: Cut to a shot of Randall standing in front of the doorway to his office. His hands are put into the pockets of his dark blue slacks; the face exhibiting bright warmth of fatherly calm and kindness going into the situation.
RANDALL [Cont. to Tara]: I know going out with someone is tough (certainly was with me and your mother). But you've got the advantage of talking with her multiple times, which I imagine should help, right?
Panel 2: Back to Tara a second later standing in front of a bookcase visible in the background. He’s stopped whistles and is nodding slightly at the earlier statement, glancing down at the floor; the anxiety diminished to a degree compared to the previous page. You can see off-panel the glare from the first bit of headlights from the streets outside.
TARA [agreeing, to Randall]: Yeah, Dad, it does. It’s just…I'm a bit scared of freaking out or having a meltdown on the date or something else embarrassing while—
Panel 3-4: A two-part set of panels that move back to the same setting/layout as Panel 1. In Panel 3, Randall nods in a very knowing way to the earlier statement; he lifts his back off the edge of the wall, taking a couple of steps toward his son with his eyes over on one of the books nearby. In Panel 4, a second after that, the elder Myers turns his attention back to his son.
RANDALL [interjecting, Panel 3]: Ahh, I see now… RANDALL [Cont., Panel 4]: You remember the talent show incident when you were in the 7th Grade?
Panel 5: Close-up on Tara a few moments later; his hands are firmly in the pockets of his pants. He glances over in his dad’s direction, who happens to be behind his back at this point. In the background, you can see the store windows along with the side of a truck passing from right to left on the street.
TARA [embarrassment shudder]: Oh yeah, all too well…
Panel 6: We move to a flashback shot of a young middle school aged Tara performing on-stage, dressed in a kid-sized version of his vest with a Scott Pilgrim T-shirt visible somewhat between it. You can see the backs of the heads of the assembled kids and parents who are in attendance, along with a banner that reads “TALENT SHOW” in big painted red letter on white construction paper.
TARA [narration caption]: The “Talent Show Incident” in compact form- Got a minute into “If I Had A Million Dollars.”
Panel 7: Same setting/layout as the previous panel, along with the same designs in the foreground and background. We fast forward minutes later to find Tara crouched over and projectile vomiting; the microphone slamming down to the wooden stage, causing a spark of feedback bubbling up from it.
TARA [narration caption]: Then blew a million blown chunks all over the front row, and…the rest is just a week-long blur of embarrassment!
